Are Census S Tables Included in BA Data?

I've looked through the lists of available data variables with a BA license but I don't see anything with data from ACS table S1701 Poverty Status in the Past 12 Months. Am I missing something? Pretty new to searching through data in BA. Thanks.

Good afternoon
You can find a detailed list of all the variables in the 2024 catalog which is here

Poverty data for ACS is drawn from tables B17 and C17 in the current release. This is also true of data in the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World.

Are there specific variables you are looking for?

Best wishes

Thank you for your response. The table you linked is one of the places I looked, in addition to our installed BA data.

There are a few variables in table S1701 (e.g., field S1701_C03_003E for percent of children under 5 years below poverty level). I download the tracts table for my county for the latest ACS vintage and join it to our tracts for mapping. I then use the ACS Column Metadata CSV to see the alias names for the fields so I know which ones to use in my calculations. This can be tedious and it feels like there is a better way to work through this. I haven't found children under 5 data anywhere else, but I'm no expert with census data.

Have you looked at Create a Statistical Data Collection in BA Pro or Custom Data Setup in BA Web? Both these allow easy integration of external datasets into the BA data catalog and make it a well defined client that is also discoverable through the data browser and can be shared across users.

I have but that's not really what I was going for here. I was just thinking the table I needed may have already been added to the BA data, removing my need to do the join and field aliasing. Thank you again for your thoughts on this.

If you let us know which variables from the S17 table you find most valuable we can add them. Now is a good time as we are planning the June 2025 data package.

Hoping to hear from you.

Wow! Thanks, Helen. The county client I work with currently only asks for the field mentioned above as well as S1701_C01_003E and S1701_C02_003E since they are concerned with child care. I'm trying to figure out why the cutoff age is 5 years for table S1701 and 6 years for the B table data in Living Atlas "ACS Poverty Status Variables Boundaries."
