Is it possible, and does anyone have the code to display an operational layer within the overview map?

Do you mean just one of the <operationallayers>, or the basemap plus that operational layer?

If users turn off the layer in the TOC, what would you want the overview map to do?

Hi Bjorn, been a while since this post but has there been developments on this issue.  I'd also like to add an operational layer to my overview map.  I've added an operational layer to my main that stays on all the time (no user control to switch it off).  I'd like to add this layer to the overview map as well.

Can this be done with the overview map dijit?

Thanks for your help,
Ed

Is it possible...?

Yes, it is possible. Use the <layer> tag:

"<layer>  Optional. The default behavior is to use the same map as the main map. Alternatively, set the <layer> tag to display a specific "tiled" or "dynamic" map service in the overview map. "

See the http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#/Overview_map_widget/01m300000007000000...

Hi Bjorn, sorry for the delay in replying to your post.  Thanks for the input.  I should have clarified, is it possible to add a tiled layer and an operational layer to the overview map?  I'm guessing that only one layer is supported?

Thanks again.
