Is it possible to use Bing Maps using the ArcGIS Flex 2.0 implementation of VETiledLayer with ArcGIS Server 9.3.1?

I've noticed that as of 10, a Bing map VETiledLayer no longer uses a tokenUrl property and instead uses a session key. Just wondering if the new api is backwards compatible with 9.3.1.

We also plan to use the Bing geocoder service.

thanks

Yes, the VE classes have no dependencies on ArcGIS Server.

I would think so to. But it appears vesrion 2 of the flex api only supports AGS 10.

From the api you can see that it no longer supports a tokenUrl property which was the AGS 9.3.1 way of integrating with Bing.

Am i missing something?

Generally speaking both 1.x and 2.x API works great with any REST-enabled ArcGIS Server, i.e. 9.3 and later.

However, certain functionality is only in certain version of the server.  For example, you need ArcGIS Server 10 for editing.

The Bing Maps changes are a bit special.  For the Bing Maps, Microsoft have changed the authentication scheme, so in the 2.0 API (and AGS 10) we updated the API to support the new Bing Maps key-based Authentication.  The only "dependency" for Bing on AGS 9.3.1 is how you get your token/key thru ArcGIS Manager - http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/help/index.html#ve_gettingstarted.htm
