Draping imagery in ArcScene

I am working in ArcScene 10.3 trying to drape a MrSID image over a DEM.  It is not draping properly (the two layers overlap instead of SID appearing on top) and when I add vertical exaggeration it is different for each layer (the DEM appears to float above the SID image).

  1. In the table of content keep the SID on top of DEM
  2. Right click on the DEM > Properties >Base height > Floating on a custom surface = DEM
  3. Right click on the SID > Properties > Base height > Floating on a custom surface = DEM
  4. Scene properties > Vertical exaggeration > Calculate from the extent or set it manually.
  5. Right click on the DEM and Zoom to layer.

Hope above steps are helpful.

Thank you for response.

Turns out I needed to reproject the SID to match the data frame.

However, my SID image resolution is greatly diminished.  Can I improve it?

I believe your DEM has course resolution compare to SID. It happens because SID image is draped on the DEM.
