I have a polygon shp, I wanna add z-values for analysis

How can I add z-values early?

The Interpolate Shape will make the polygon 3d. In order to get the values out, you will have to convert it from a polygon, but here is the link.

May I clarify my question. I have one shp (polygon) which doesn't have z-value. However, I want to add z-value on existing shp, hpw should I do? Thanks!

The Interpolate Shape tool will make the polygon 3d. It will create vertices that have the elevation value of the raster used to interpolate to.  The new file that is created will be exactly as the original one, but be a Polygon ZM and have 3d values.  So when you bring it into ArcScene the polygon will have values that reflect the new z vertex values.

The Add Surface Information tool will add the following.

    Points??z
    Multipoints??z minimum, z maximum, z mean
Polylines??z minimum, z maximum, z mean, surface length, minimum slope, maximum slope, average slope
