3D Scanning in GIS

This is a general question that I have been unable to get a great answer on.

How is ESRI leveraging the use of 3D scanning in their software.

What I would like to do is take a 3D scan and either drape it over a 3D feature (a building polygon) or geo-reference it somehow. I know I can take a feature and export it out to a multipath and take it into sketch up or city engine and do the facades. But I would rather use the actual scan of the building. Revit and CAD can process the point cloud and build out a 3D model ........ I was just wondering How ESRI is leveraging 3D scanning technology. Is there a way to do what I want to do with an ESRI product? If so how? and if not is this something ESRI is working towards?

Thanks for any input on the subject,

Matt

I'm looking for an answer to this question. Hopefully one has been developed in the last two years...?
