I have a DEM and buildings which I have extruded to make 3D in ArcScene based off of a value I assigned them in a new column in the Attribute table. I want to Create a Profile that shows both the elevation of the DEM but also shows the heights of the building.

I've used 3D Analyst> Interpolate Line> Profile Graph in ArcMap but this only creates a profile of the DEM and will not allow me to select the buildings.

Does anyone know how to make a profile of multiple layers or even a 3D profile

Thanks,
Kevin

Here's an image just to give a slightly better idea of what I'm trying to do. I want a profile that shows the DEM and the Buildings along the line of the image on the right looking west

I ended up clipping all the layers in Scene and using that as the profile.

HI Kevin,

I recommend signing up for ArcGIS 10.1 beta program.  Beta will be in a few weeks.  You will want to check out the Stack Profile geoprocessing tool.  It creates an output table and optional graph recording the profile obtained by draping line features over one or more surface types and multipatch datasets.  We'd love to get feedback during beta from you.

The current profile tools are only surface aware so they won't include multipatches in the resulting profile.

Regards,
Eric
