There is a simple idea that is currently lacking across most LAS and point cloud editing software, in both GIS and 3D specialization platforms (even with converting LAS to another format and back again), i.e., the ability to paint (colorize) custom permanent RGB values into LAS point clouds without the need for aerial or oblique imagery alone. The "RGB LAS Paint Brush" 🖌 would be implemented by having a 3D spherical paint brush of any specified diameter that could perform direct color replacements to a point cloud, when viewed in a Scene. The tool could also modify, rather than replace, RGB values with shading, darkening, contrasting, tinting, etc. There would be much value behind the RGB LAS Paint Brush in that it could be used to correct errors caused by aerial imagery (such as shadows or lidar and imagery not being of the same date and being mismatched for some areas). It would allow users to edit RGB points instead of imagery first. It could help with creating more realistic base coloration of pavilion buildings or removing shadows from the top of structures where they do not make sense. The RGB LAS Paint Brush could be used for even terrestrial lidar data colorized by ground photos. There is also potential for the tool to create more abstract and visually appealing RGB point clouds for informational, educational, or aesthetic reasons, but mainly the idea is for color correction or replacement of point color values. The tool could paint visible-only points (surface), internal points (spherical reach), selected-only points (isolate points for color edits), or adjusting the color characteristics of the entire LAS file (e.g., brightness/contrast, hue, etc.). The RGB LAS Paint Brush could repurpose point clouds used for analysis and create better and more realistic visualizations without needing to go into advanced 3D specializations outside the scope of most GIScientists. Also, this tool would have nothing to do with classification, and would not require using classes to custom colorize a cloud using symbology. Instead, RGB values would remain in their own symbolization category. It would work in real-time with a Save Edits function, and not be a process to run like Colorize LAS. Attached are examples of how orthorectified aerial imagery can falsely colorize the top of rooves in an aerial lidar dataset, given the rooves overlap with a shaded or ground region. The process can also double-stamp building imagery colors above and below their rooftops if ground data exists, which the ground could be shaded out manually with such a tool. Being able to color correct the building top would be very useful and not require a more painstaking approach of editing aerial imagery first to see how it turns out later. It would give users more leeway in painting RGB values from a ground perspective (without ground photos) and not just the top-down colorization that is currently available. Hope others have imagined something similar, would find the tool useful, and thanks for reading!

Hello, I am using ArcGIS Pro 3.1.2, but the issue described below has happened many years back too. Has anyone attempted to add 3 or more rasters to a Mosaic Dataset, specifying a specific order of display in the tool, and then export the combined Image (from TOC) to make a single GRID raster only to find the order changed? I am working with 7 images. The other method I attempted was to use Analysis Tab>Raster Functions>Mosaic Rasters, also specifying a display order and "First" as the blend operation. The temporary output it puts in the TOC is shown as a single file. But, if you export the temp raster it mysteriously reorders the rasters in the output. I included two example images: One is extracted rasters with their polygon boundaries shown, in the display order as desired using either method of mosaicking. The other image shows the exported mosaic output, using both methods, finalized in the incorrect merge order. It seems this is a straightforward concept. Am I missing something or is this a bug? Thanks.

With the install of ArcGIS Pro 3.0, the deep learning tools are present, but the 3.0 deep learning libraries haven't yet been released for things such as exporting training data or training a deep learning model from my search. The current installers are located here: https://links.esri.com/deep-learning-framework-install . I noticed the Package Manager in Pro 3.0 shows the latest version of deep-learning-essentials as version 3.0, but it doesn't seem to exist yet. I didn't have any luck running the tools in 3.0 since the libraries installer is still 2.9. I am aware that reverting to 2.9 will resolve this. After updating to 3.0 this caught me off guard, so I am more interested in the future installer release. FYI, the URL in Package Manager for this installer has a typo: "framworks".

This issue just happened to me today in ArcGIS Pro 2.9, and several previous versions. After saving georeference the image will disappear. Sometimes clicking it on and off in the TOC brings it back. I now solve the issue by saving the project and reopening it. Most times, the layer becomes visible when activated again.

I would like to note that this issue has occurred several times for me when using ArcGIS Pro. Some tif's will have the move button greyed out after saving edits and reopening with Georeference button. There is nothing I can do but delete position files and start over. It will commonly lose all control points. The other option is to create new control points to adjust the image just saved, without starting over.

I am having a similar issue. This was happening last year and this year with all patch updates, with my current install being 2.9.1. I have not noticed any associated activity that leads to it, but in this instance it was georeferencing a raster. My computer does not required being in lock mode. Every button in the GUI acknowledges hover but is unclickable after testing them all. What is different than the first post, is even ones outside of the ribbon in the TOC and catalog pane will not work. Map tabs cannot be selected. As mentioned above, the map in view will still zoom in with the mouse. The only way to leave Pro in this scenario, since the close button is frozen, is to end its process in task manager. This freeze problem occurs much more often than classic crashes that close the program.

Thank you for letting us know your results. When I tried to rename an annotation in attributes, it was freezing my computer and blinking the map frame. I tried your solution it is worked right away. I use a 4K monitor and have a similar Windows 10 Pro scaling in Display Settings for an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060. and use Pro 2.7.2.

This issue seems to have been on GeoNet for years, that is Convert KML -> Shapefile or layer with the HTML popup info translated into field attribute columns. Global Mapper solves this problem seamlessly with the click of 2 buttons with accurate results for a layer I tried with their trial version. The output was enough to make use of the total KMZ dataset without worrying about the different components of KMLs containing tabular info (pics provided). I have looked everywhere. I am not sure why there is not a straightforward way to do this as of yet with Esri. I am hoping it will be added for general use and workable outputs to Pro. It appears this idea implementation was in progress in 2015. I do not work for BlueMarbleGeo, but it has been the only solution I have found if you need one. https://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/global-mapper.php

Hi Joe, Doing that does not work since Dashboard (non-beta) will allow you to filter the strings correctly, but the string field we need to show will not chart using the government REST service's Date field in the Series drop-down list, nor will any string appear in any drop-down that is limited to numeric fields only (which is normal). Thus, without an efficient way to convert string to numeric within the Dashboard non-beta it does not seem possible at this time. Hopefully, their new Dashboard will allow both tables and Arcade to be used together as it is a crucial combination. Wondering if there is a workaround using other AGO apps that can be used as a hosted layer in our AGO content, which allows programming the table service to convert strings to numerics on the fly, which can then be used as a data source in the Dashboard.

Hi Peter, Yes, we created a test layer and I rebuilt the spatial index as a first attempt at troubleshooting. Modifying the layer fields in AGO using SQL works as it should, but it is not a usable substitute for our data entry needs working in Pro. The saving time issue seemed to arise along with certain parts of Application UI being greyed out (Add Field): Troubleshooting Performance Issues in ArcGIS Pro It also seems related to limited "Enable-Undo" functionality when Calculating fields which has happened in the past: https://community.esri.com/ideas/16516 I tried uninstalling the 2.5.1 patch but it did not fix (1) Save time (2) Greyed Application UI button (3) Ability to calculate fields in a live layer with Enable-Undo activated, unless saving before calculating the next field. Occurrences are happening over separate networks/computers in Pro, so it does not point to a network configuration or graphics card issue. Enable-Undo works with populating a field from another field, but not calculating a field with new values using Python, SQL, or Arcade (e.g., all 0's or all null). The error states that edits must be saved before calculating next field. I wonder if it all is a geocaching issue with AGO. Enable-Undo should allow us to cache locally before saving edits.
