Hi Craig, I have gone through this but there is no mention of calculating the total time spent on an assignment. I have tried adding a field to my assignments layer and calculated from there but this does not return the correct figure. Have you any other links that may help? Many thanks Thomas

Hi Dan, Thank you for the response, I have tried both of these and whilst both expressions are valid I am still returning the following for both: ERROR 000539: File "<expression>", line 1 updateValue(1E+21.0) ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax Failed to execute (CalculateField). The (!some_field!) is of data type double ... I cannot understand why the same error is returning, it should be a straightforward process. Many thanks Thomas

I have a column in an attribute table that has a mixture of nulls and data. I wish to create a new column that will return a "yes" if there is data in the column being checked and "no" if it is a null. I have tried a variety of python functions but I keep getting an error similar to the below: ERROR 000539: File "<expression>", line 1 updateValue(1E+21.0) ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax Failed to execute (CalculateField). I have tried the following : X = updateValue(!field!) def updateValue(value): if value == None: return 'no' else: return "yes" Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to split point data into separate layers based the attributes of a column. I have around 70,000 points that need to be split into roughly 70 distinct point layers, I carried out this task manually for each layer but I am wondering can this been achieved using model builder ? I cannot find any examples of this and following a trail and error approach has also proved unsuccessful. I essentially want to iterate through my points layer and split this into separate layers based on the cell contents of a column in the attribute table . I am sure this is straightforward but I cannot get it to work. Any help would be most appreciated. Many thanks
