Hi Stuart, Thanks for your reply. I tried your method in FileZilla and also retried the Web Client making sure it was using Java but I suspect that it is must be a problem at my end. Our proxy server seems to allow normal ftp through but not SFTP. I will take it up with our IT provider (or probably just download the latest ArcHydro at home - it seems to be less hassle). Regards Tim

Is this information still correct? I have been unable to gain access using this information. The Web Client goes nowhere after entering login/password and filezilla times out using the info below. Thanks for any assistance. . We just moved to a new ftp server system: https://mft.esri.com Login: ADSRiverHydraulics Password: ADSRiver.2012 Note that the password will be reset every 6 months or so. Hi, Someone else asked my question a year or so ago and there were no replies but I thought I would give it another go. I would like to know if there is a way to redirect the ArcHydro Temp directory to another drive. I am using ArcHydro 2.1.0.116 with ArcGIS 10 on XP. The currrent default directory for archydro's temp data is on the c: drive. Due to either HP's or our IT Departments infinite wisdom the c: drive sits on a small partition so I need to redirect the temp directory to another drive. I am using large datasets so anytime archydro has more than 2 intermediate grids in its calculations it uses all the space and falls over. I have removed programs and cleaned up the c: as much as I can, I delete the temp directory by using the feature in archydro but it still does not give me enough space. I have tried to redirect ArcMap's general temp directory to my d: drive but this has no effect on ArcHydro files they still go to the c:. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Tim

Hi, Another thread did mention my problem about 12 months ago but there was no answer so here we go again. I am using the latest 4.3.1.40 (HECGeoRas_93_040612.msi) version of Hec GeoRAS for ArcGis 9.3.1 from the esri ftp server. Whenever I try to export to an sdf file using the "classic" method I get an xml file but no sdf file. As far as i know the xml file is useless to try and get my data into HECRAS, I can find no converter to go to xml to sdf only the other way around. I have reloaded framework and GeoRAS many times, restarted PC, cleared temp directories but nothing seems to work. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Regards Tim

Hi All, I am using Georas 4.3.93 with ArcGIS 9.3.1. I have a georas project set up which uses the tile method with about 50 different TINs. I have imported my RAS data back in, delineated the water surface, and am at the stage of "floodplain delineation using Grid" and I receive an error message each time: "Failed to create mask feature class System.NullReferenceException:Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at ESRI.ArcGIS.Geometry.ITopologicalOperator2.Intersect(IGeometry other, esriGeometryDimension resultDimension) at HECGeoRAS.clsMFloodGRIDIntersection.GetMaskFeatureClass4Tile(IFeature pTileFeature, String sProfilename, IFeatureClass pBPFC, Boolean IsMaskTilePolygon)" Can anyone shed any light on what is going wrong? Thanks Tim

Matt, Thanks for your reply. As suggested I exported the cutline file to a new one. Then I tried setting all the attribute data to "null" using the field calculator. I ran the GeoRAS process for attributing Station, Banks, lengths and heights etc. and all seemed to work OK this time, it went past the previous xs that were in order to include the new ones added at the end. Not sure if it was exporting to a new file or clearing all the previous attribute data, but luckily I did not have to resort to recreating the mxd or have to draw my 1500 cross sections again. I agree that GeoRAS does have some odd and annoying quirks! Thanks again for your assistance Tim

Hi, I have a GeoRas/HecRas model set up. I want to insert additional cross-sections in between existing ones. I tried to add additional cross sections in my cutline layer but when I try to attribute them using GeoRAS it always stops at the last of the old XS rather than continue to the new xs which are added at the end of the attribute table. Is there a way of getting GeoRAS to look at all the lines in the attribute table, or reorder each line in the attribute table so all cross sections are in order going downstream perhaps using the streamline layer. Thought this would be a common thing to do but have searched forums to get answers but came up with nothing. Maybe i am missing something fairly basic. Thanks Tim

I solved the problem and as you connot delete posts in this forum I will run through it just in case someone else comes across the same problem. If you don't know that the creation of a 3D stream layer is not possible when using the tile option, and you try and do it, you get an error message saying it is not implemented yet, BUT it still creates an empty 3D file of your stream and puts this empty file in your layer setup under "Stream Profile" in the optional layers section - you need to change this back to "null" before you try and export. If you do not it does not export any stream data, 2D or otherwise. Now if I could only solve why I now run out of memory during the "new" export process whilst it is creating the RAS XML file... and why the "classic" export process does not work at all!

I am using GeoRAS 4.3.93 with ArcGIS 9.3.1. I have set up streams, xscutlines etc. and am using the tile option to get data from 50 odd TIN models. Everything appears to work correctly, except it appears the converting stream to 3D is not implemented yet for the tile option. When I try to export the data to the RAS import file, no stream data is exported. I am using the "new" export method because the old export method does not do anything. I have a little over 1500 xsections and am getting data from detailed TINS produced from LiDAR data. I suspect i am not getting the stream data because either 1. it is looking for a 3D stream file (which I don't have) and does not work with a 2D file, or 2. am running into some unreported memory problems in the export process. I can not open the full xml file due to memory problems. When I try to load the sdf file generated by GeoRAS, RAS falls over with an error message and all I can see from opening the rasimport.sdf file in notepad, is that the stream data is missing, all other data is there. Can anyone else shed any light on this? I have been using the GeoRAS process with single TINS for years with few problems so I suspect something to do with the tile option. Thanks Tim
