The spatial reference was missing on the feature dataset ... I had done some copying and pasting in the first iteration, reassigning polygon/polyline/point stereotypes. Hi Stephen, Setting the spatial reference info is a step I forget at least every second time I create an arcgis model. Fortunately, implementing an arcgis model validation routine is on Sparx's to do list, so we'll get a reminder in future... Regarding the switch between feature class stereotypes, it's probably easier currently to create a new element of the desired stereotype and drag across whatever fields etc. you have in the old element. Otherwise there's a bit of manual tweaking of tagged values to get it right. It would be nice to have a conversion function say from the ArcGIS extension menu. Hopefully we'll see something like that in a future release. Regards, Ben

In response to Stefano's query: Annotation was not included in the first beta release, however it is being developed for the next beta. Just following up on this point I made earlier. Enterprise Architect's UML profile for ArcGIS schema modeling was officially released recently, in conjunction with the release of Enterprise Architect 9.3.931. Unfortunately we were not able to include dimension and annotation feature classes in this release. Both are still planned, however, for future releases of the profile. I'll provide updates as this work completes. For details on what is available see: http://www.sparxsystems.com/arcgis Regards, Ben

Hi Tomas and Daniel, Did you manage to get this issue resolved? I think there's been a couple of releases of the ArcGIS profile for Enterprise Architect since you first posted here. It may be worth retrying with the latest release (9.3 Build 931). The updated pdf tutorial might be of help as well (http://www.sparxsystems.com/bin/arcgis-enterprise-architect-uml-modeling-tutorial.pdf). Either way let us know how it went, and we'll try post a solution for others that may have encountered this problem. Ben

Confirmed at the UC. 🙂 Ben, where / how / to whom specifically should Esri users submit feedback and suggestions on this UML profile of the geodatabase / ArcGIS UML Profile? I would like to know where to direct readers of my blog with an interest in the profile. Dana, Thanks for catching this omission. The best way to provide feedback is via our online support forms. For registered EA users, the link is: http://www.sparxsystems.com/registered/reg_bug_report.html For trial users, the link is: http://www.sparxsystems.com/support/bug_report.html These forms will direct queries to our support team, who will follow-up via email. Thanks for your encouraging responses already. Ben

Hi, In response to Dana's original request, Sparx recently released a beta implementation of its UML profile for ArcGIS. Schema import and export are included for ArcGIS 10. Details at: http://community.sparxsystems.com/news/110711/sparx-systems-releases-arcgis-uml-profile The beta profile was included in the release of Enterprise Architect 9, Build 908 . In response to Stefano's query: Annotation was not included in the first beta release, however it is being developed for the next beta. Sparx is interested in any feedback and suggestions for improvement before officially releasing its support of ArcGIS in EA. I hope this helps. Ben
