Matthew, I have a couple of questions before I give an answer. Are you drawing in images from a server? Are the images on your machine? What kind of images are you processing? Are you processing images for analysis or are you just displaying the imagery is a layer? There are definitely some tweaks you can make in ArcGIS pro to make processing faster. If you are just displaying the images as a base map and you're not doing any analysis you can definitely speed up the processing by ensuring that you are building pyramids for your images. You can find the settings for building pyramids under the analysis tab and scrolling down to the raster storage selection. Make sure that the build pyramids box is checked, set the resampling technique is sat to bilinear. Also, if you're using a quad core machine then you can set processor type in the same environments. Down below the raster storage section you'll see a section that says processor type. If you hover over the space to the left of the processor type command and click on the information tab you can assign different processors to carry on the calculations. If you have multiple GPU's you can also assign more than one GPU to do the processing. This will vastly increase the speed with which the rasters are rendered. There are other things that you can do and if you give some more specifics I can make suggestions. Hey All, So I have a coding problem that has been driving me insane. I am working with a point feature showing geocoded student locations where the data table has a text field "Major Description". The Major Description field provides a textual description for the students major (e.g., Respiratory Care Therapy, Nursing, Radiation Therapy, etc.). What I ultimately want to do is to create a symbol set where the student location point symbol is replaced with the "initials" of the major. In other words, rather than student majors having a color-coded point feature I want to have the students who are majoring in Nursing symbolized with an "N"; Respiratory Therapist would be symbolized with an "RT" and Respiratory Care Therapy would be symbolized with an "RC" and so on. This way, looking at a map showing, say 100 students, in the School of Health Professions would be far more intuitive to see the spatial distribution of the majors by the lettering than by the associated point color. I have tried several different approaches all to no avail. Any thoughts, recommendations, suggestions (including beverage suggestions to ease this headache((:P)) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I will update the older software versions (should have picked up on that, eh..). This is a standalone licenses on a laptop I use to replicate the setups that students use for loading the software onto their laptops/home machines. Guess it just caught up with me. I will let you know what happens after the update.....

Stuart, Thanks for the reply. I will update the older software versions (should have picked up on that, eh..) but as I noted to Jeyanta everything was running fine until yesterday and I am not pulling any license info from the server. This is a standalone licenses on a laptop I use to replicate the setups that students use for loading the software onto their laptops/home machines. Guess it just caught up with me. I will let you know what happens after the update..... Scott

I have installed the 1 yr student version on my laptop to reflect the same software that my students use. I haven't had any issues until yesterday. I am currently running 10.3.1 and was working with ArcCatalog and ArcMap open and functioning. My machine started to bog down so I closed out ArcMap and re-opened it only to get errors for both saying that ArcGIS has encountered serious application error and is unable to continue (the usual crash error pop-up). I tried opening up the Advanced Utility to see if there were any issues of if anything had been changed to create a problem and got the following error (similar to that pointed out in this thread): I went looking for any patches and didn't see any related to 10.3.1. I ran patchfinder so here is what I currently have on my machine: License Manager shows the following: Any thoughts on how to get my ArcMap Suite back up and functioning? As I said. the current installation was running fine until yesterday. For example, if I want to label a feature using place names the default is to create a label with the name all on one line. How can I split text so that a lable, for example "Wichita State University", puts "Wichita State" on one line and " "University" on a second line (centered) below it.

We are trying to install Business Analyst on a desktop computer and get an error (see attachment) saying that it is "Unable to find Business Analyst 10.2 software install/BA_10.2/setup.msi. Make sure Business Analyst 10.2 install media is inserted and click retry". When i look at the ArcGIS administrator Business Analyst is authorized (has a license) but it says that it is not installed. Any help is greatly appreciated!
