I tracked all the actual AGSPictureMarkerSymbols in my layer via the AGSRenderer object. The image size is very small (6x6) (ish) Also used a proxy server to see the image data. The images are small on arrival. I can scale the symbols up by setting the size attribute of the symbols, but of course the images are too fuzzy. I noticed that the feature layer rendering mode was "static" not dynamic. Not sure if that matters. Is there something I should be doing when I call initWithURL for my feature layer perhaps? Some attribute that needs to be set? Why would the server scale down the vector images so low?

Thanks for Rickey for taking a look. The native app view behaves quite different to the browser view. I tested this with one of the ESRI sample apps, and the same zoom problem seems to occur. Does anyone from the iOS dev team have a comment?

Hi Rickey, could I send the server details by email? It's proprietary data, so can't post publicly. I'm at simonfoxguitar@gmail.com Thanks so much, really appreciate your help.

I'm using the iOS components to view the layer, so I'm pretty sure it's a server config issue. I'll try and get permission for Rickey to take a look. Will have to go offline with it Thanks guys.

Ok, yes we had tried that, but made no difference unfortunately.

Thanks Rickey, I'll pass this on to our server manager and see if it helps. Back soon.

Hi folks, I have a server sending me symbols onto my map. They're quite small when zoomed out. When I zoom in on my AGSMapView, I can see the symbols increasing in size as I'd want them to. However as soon as I left go of the zoom gesture, the symbols snap back to the tiny resolution. So the result is that regardless of the map scale, the symbols remain tiny. We tried making their images very large on the server as a test, but it's the same. Seems to be a client-side issue. Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks guys, much appreciated. Simon.

I figured out a way to solve this using AGSFeatureLayerModeSelection mode to manufacture my own "on-demand" strategy. Was a bit fiddly, but allowed me to decide when to ask for features, and to track the start/end of the network events so I can report to the user. Used the pan/zoom event notifications and AGSQuery calls inside a controlled event queue. Seems to work pretty well.

Yes, that's right, I can see 2 databases. One for each extent. What I'm looking for is to have a single database that can hold the data for both extents. Is there a way to say "here's an existing database file, now *add* the features for this new extent" ? Thanks, Simon

Hi folks, I have a local geodatabase in my app, and the user can choose an envelope/extent across which to bring down data from the live server. But if I then want to pull down a second data set from a different envelope, the first data set gets erased. Seems I can only hold one envelope of data at a time. I'm using this call: generateGeodatabaseWithParameters with useExisting set to YES. Every time I run the generate call, existing data gets removed. Any ideas? I need to have the user pull down data in chunks. Thanks for any thoughts, Simon.

Hi folks, When using this AGSFeatureLayerModeOnDemand for loading a layer's polygons, I can't seem to get reliable response. Sometimes I wait forever for polygons to arrive, even though the map is zoomed and located at the correct place. Other times they just appear. Or a person next to me isn't get anything and I am. I don't know how to make my app work consistently. Is there anything I can do to have the polygons hurry up, or behave more predictably? Thanks, Simon.

Hi Sephe, I have a requirement to display footages to the nearest survey lines. So it's a distance measurement relative to these survey lines. I have a load of polygons and a user's location inside one of them. I'll need to ask for some clarity I guess, but was just wondering where these terms are defined formally. Cheers, Simon

Hi all, I'm looking for a precise definition of the terms: FSL From South Line, and the other compass points. I understand the math in principle, but would love to have a reference to work from to make sure I get it right. Thanks for any pointers. Google not helpful Cheers, Simon
