We recently shifted to a new server for SQL storage. It is SQL Server 2016 the server has 24 GB of Ram and 4 sockets. We noticed a decline in performance of our larger data sets like contours. In looking at the SQL Activity monitor the queries for contours are consistently an "Expensive Query". I have added an index to one of the fields with a small amount of benefit. A difference that I am seeing for the queries being passed to SQL is the spatial methods being passed. On the old server running SDE 10.3.1 this query is passed to the contours. select SHAPE from GISdw.L.Contours1Foot WHERE CONTOURS1FOOT.SHAPE.Filter (@P1) = 1 While in the new server running 10.6.1 this query is being passed> select SHAPE, CONTOURTYPE, GISDW.DCL.CONTOURS1FOOT.GDB_GEOMATTR_DATA from GISdw.DCL.Contours1Foot where CONTOURS1FOOT.SHAPE.STIntersects (@P1) = 1 Has anyone else seen this behavior or have a suggested fix?

Ha, I was just testing the max count at 250. I will make the change to 100 and run a test. Would there be any benefit in modifying the Max sample size variable?

Okay so I changed the max record count on historical parcels to 250 and changed the max sample size to 50K. I’ll try 2016 parcels again. I am working on my morning email to Don. This is what I am thinking. They ‘reset’ our cloud store again. The largest dataset that we have on open data would be parcels. The rest will have to wait or go to the zip file solution.

https://gis-countyofdane.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/parcels-2016 I just attempted to pull 518 records and it is still working. We had to remove the share for Contours and current parcels due to the cache refresh killing our data server. Thanks, Dave

We have been having issues with Hub and Open Data related to large data sets. Once we add large data sets to Open Data they fail to download. These would include our parcel and contour data. We have had an incident open with ESRI for almost a year with no resolution. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

I've recently started working with cached map services. I thought that after I created the map cache that the connection to the database would disappear, but it hasn't. Is this correct?

The solution that I came up with... Create a temp table with an identity column for Object ID. Insert the View there and then move that into the publication table. CREATE TABLE #TAXPARCELWCONDOS( [OBJECTID] int identity(1,1) not null, [PARCELNO] [nvarchar](26) NULL, [SHAPE] [geometry] NULL) INSERT INTO #TAXPARCELWCONDOS ([PARCELNO] ,[SHAPE]) SELECT [PARCELNO] ,[shape] FROM [Parcel]. .[view_TaxParcelwCondos]; TRUNCATE TABLE L.TAXPARCELWCONDOS INSERT INTO L.TAXPARCELWCONDOS ([OBJECTID],[PARCELNO] ,[SHAPE]) SELECT [OBJECTID],[PARCELNO] ,[shape] FROM #TAXPARCELWCONDOS; DROP TABLE #TAXPARCELWCONDOS

I am running an ETL from a spatial view into publication database. The view has results in duplicate ObjectID's. I started working with the get_ids SP example from ESRI, but that seems to be built more for a single record insert and not a bulk insert. I have also tried the NEXT_ROWID. Here is my example... DECLARE @id as integer DECLARE @num_ids as integer EXEC L.i16_get_ids 2, 1, @id output, @num_ids output; INSERT INTO L.TAXPARCELWCONDOS ([OBJECTID] ,[PARCELNO] ,[SHAPE]) SELECT @id ,[PARCELNO] ,[shape] FROM [Parcel]. .[view_TaxParcelwCondos]; END How can I generate new ObjectID's for the insert. Thanks,

I upgraded a 9.2 ArcSDE SQL Server 2000 database to ArcSDE 10 and SQL Server 2008 64bit. Following the upgrade I am unable to edit any of the Feature classes that involve topology as the data owner. I can edit the layers as an edit user without any issue. When I attempt to delete a feature I get the following error; The features could not be deleted. OnDelete message to object returned failure [parcel.L.ConstructionLine]. I have check privledges for the owner and schema. I have added new Feature classes outside of the topology rule and it allows me to edit. I have edited existing feature classes outside of topology, but still in the feature dataset. I have assigned SQL Server db_datawriter role to the data owner. Any Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dave

I switched the Startup Type in the services to Automatic (Delayed Start) it resolved the problem for us. Thanks, Dave
