Can EXIF metadata be extracted from photo attachments in a file geodatabase exported from ArcGIS Online? We are using Collector to conduct a field inventory. Many photos are taken at each location using Collector so that the photo attachments are relationally linked to the location. If I view an individual photo uploaded from Collector in ArcGIS Online and save that photo to disk the EXIF metadata (including the "Date Taken" field) is preserved intact. However, if I export all the features (including their related photo attachments) from ArcGIS Online to a file geodatabase, and then extract the photos to JPG files using the attached script, the EXIF data no longer appear with each photo image. The "date" of the photo becomes the date it was exported to JPG. I need the photos exported from the file geodatabase downloaded from ArcGIS Online to retain their EXIF data so that I can add a date-time stamp to each photo based on the "Date Taken" EXIF field. I would welcome any suggestions on how to retain the EXIF data in the file geodatabase exported from ArcGIS Online, if that is possible, and how to modify the JPG export script to write out photos with selected EXIF Metadata.

Hi, Craig, thanks for the prompt response. This particular use case has been described to me as resembling an IT Help Desk ticket system. We'd like to create a pool of workers at a water utility who can respond to field work requests, and allow up to 2 (but no more than 2) to "accept" a work order. I think the idea is that the field workers know their own availability better than someone who might be trying to dispatch them from a central office, so we'd rather have workers select the work orders they want to take on rather than having the work orders assigned. We don't have a current digital workflow for these workers, so we likely could adapt to any workflow that would allow this kind of work order issuance-acceptance behavior. I haven't started using Workforce yet, but I can't find the answer to my question in the available documentation. The typical use case for Workforce appears to involve sending an assignment to a particular worker. We'd like to make assignments (tasks) available to a group of workers, and allow the first available worker to accept the task. Is this an option within the Workforce app? Or would this require customization via the API? Thanks! Michael

I am having a related problem with a new survey created using the web design tool on the Survey123 page at https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys I created a simple survey and shared it to my Organization. Users who clicked on the link entered their ArcGIS Online credentials, but when they were passed to the survey it never loads, they are presented with a blank screen. We have tried the following troubleshooting steps: Different Browsers - We have tried opening the URL for the survey in IE, Chrome and Edge. They all show the same behavior (blank screen). Different Devices - We have tried the URL on Windows laptops, Android smartphones and tablets and gotten the same result. Sharing to Everyone - We changed the sharing from Organization to Everyone and tried the above steps and got the same results. Note that our survey does not have any unusual characters in it, just letters and numbers (e.g., "ConferenceName 2017"). Anyone have any suggestions before I log this with Esri Technical Support? Allison - I have a similar, but slightly different, problem. I have several feature services (e.g., Bus Stops, Pedestrian, Bicycle, etc.) that each have a field ("Inventory Status") that has several values (e.g., "Not Inventoried," "Updating Complete," "QC Complete," etc.). I created a Bar Chart to track the Inventory Status for each layer in Operations Dashboard. The Bar Chart widget for each shows a maximum count of 1,000 although the actual # of features is 1,826. How did you "increase the number of features coming from my [feature] service"? I don't see where to do that in the Details for the feature service layers. Here's a slight twist. One of my layers (Bus Stops) actually has only 232 features, but the Bar Chart widget for it also tops out at 1,000! No idea what that is about. Thanks for your help. Michael

Mike - I have a related question and this thread is the closest thing I've seen. I have published a layer of proposed infrastructure projects to a public web map using ArcGIS Online. Some residents complain that when they do an address search the result is at so large a scale that they have to zoom out several steps to see any projects. How can I limit the maximum scale at which the web map will display? Setting the Scale Range for the feature class only controls whether the layer is shown at all in beyond a given scale (e.g., 1:24,000). I need something that prevents ArcGIS Online from displaying in closer than 1:24,000. Thanks! Michael

Thanks, Hannah. The multi-language option is a neat feature of Survey123, but it isn't very useful if we cannot control which of the languages is used in the feature service. I suggest that Esri change the XLSForm documentation to indicate that multiple languages are not supported until such time as a fix is found for controlling which language populates the feature service in ArcGIS Online. I think most users would rather have a survey in a single language that works reliably, than a multi-language survey whose content they cannot control. Happy holidays! Michael

Isamael, thanks for responding back on a holiday! My problem is as you described it in your 4th paragraph, "the domains in your feature service are persisting the descriptions in Creole." I tried the fix you suggested (i.e., removing the "English" label from the column header for the English text so that those values will be used as the default in creating feature service domains and field name aliases). But it didn't work, it still shows the Creole field name aliases and the Creole domains in ArcGIS Online (see attached screenshot). I thought the problem might be that some of the json files in the \debug folder were not being updated or replaced when I revised the XLSForm, so I renamed the original \debug to \debug_old. The Survey123 app created a new \debug folder and files when I published to ArcGIS Online, but the Creole language problem persisted. I will attach my entire JMH_Parking folder so that you can see the current version of the XLSForm and the other supporting files. I have also shared my JMH_Parking survey to my Esri Tech Support group so that you can see it. Fortunately, this issue does not affect the actual geodatabase field names and data values specified under the "name" columns. Even though the data shows as Creole in ArcGIS Online, the actual survey data fields and values are all in English when exported to CSV for use in Excel. But this language problem really destroys our ability to allow users to explore the survey results in ArcGIS Online, so I would still like to find a solution. Michael

OK, this is still a problem. The default_language setting will make English the default language on the Survey123 app, but I am still getting Creole language field aliases and response data in the feature service table in ArcGIS Online. Anybody have a solution?

How do I set the default language? My survey has 3 languages (English, Spanish and Creole) and it defaults to Creole rather than English. I changed the order of the languages in the XLSForm but that didn't work. This isn't a huge problem in the Survey123 app, the language can be switched easily, but it is also storing the results in ArcGIS Online in Creole which makes things confusing for the English-speaking team reviewing the data.
