Hi Frederic, Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, the server.xml file that is in the tomcat/conf folder is in great shape - opening and closing tags are fine. There are absolutely no issues with the XML file, sadly. Still having the same problem.

Hi Craig, thanks for taking the time to try and answer my query. I tried to follow your instructions but got stuck because none of the java services for the Portal were running. Only java services running on Task Manager were the Server and DataStore services. Also, this was the only error in the Portal logs: <Msg time="2019-07-29T23:32:28,848" type="SEVERE" code="217003" source="Portal" process="1644" thread="1" methodName="" machine="XXXXX" user="" elapsed="">Error before starting configuration observer. null</Msg> <Msg time="2019-07-29T23:32:28,849" type="SEVERE" code="217075" source="Portal" process="1644" thread="1" methodName="" machine="XXXXX" user="" elapsed="">Failed to start the portal. The observer's beforeStart() function returned a failure.</Msg> Tried the re-indexing procedure but still couldn't access the Portal admin directory.

I do not believe that such a setting exists but I may be wrong. You may have to use the Delete Protection setting on the item details for the Feature Layer to prevent that from happening to feature layers that you deem important. That's what I try to do. If you do find a separate setting, I'd be glad to know as well.

Hi! I was running Portal for ArcGIS on a Windows Server 2012 R2 server for a while until up to a week ago when it suddenly went down. The Portal for ArcGIS Windows Service shows that the service is running but it is not possible to access the portal site on port 7443. I took a look at some of the logs and this is what I got from the Portal logs in the arcgisportal folder: Failed to start the portal. The observer's beforeStart() function returned a failure. Also had a look at the logs in the C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Portal\framework\service\logs folder and got the following in the service-0.log: <Msg time="2019-07-28T18:13:49,381" type="SEVERE" code="218010" source="Portal Admin" process="1592" thread="1" methodName="" machine="" user="" elapsed="">The portal has been initialized and configured but is not accessible. The internal portal database does not appear to be running or accepting connections. After a year of being able to freely log in to ArcGIS Pro, I am suddenly unable to log in. At first, I started getting the following error: The number of licenses assigned to users exceeds the number of licences available in your organization However, the organization I was logged in to definitely had available licenses and my account was assigned one and I had not taken it offline. The funny thing is, when I log out of that user profile on my laptop then I log into another user profile - I am actually able to log into ArcGIS pro with no problem. However, I absolutely need to be able to log into ArcGIS Pro on my user profile. Based on some advice from my IT department, I uninstalled ArcGIS Pro and deleted all references to Pro from AppData and the registry as advised here.(on assumption that a corrupt user profile was the problem). This led to a different error: Invalid URL and then after a few more tries I got the error in the attachment. I am still able to log in to Pro when I use someone else's Window Profile. However, whenever I try using my profile (with the same AGOL credentials), I get this error: A core license could not be found. Select another licensing option or contact your administrator to update your licenses. Might anyone have any insight on how I can sort this out?

Thanks for your reply Jonathan. This is a brand new installation on both machines - Two Windows 2012 Server machines. There are 2 lines for the the keycodes file: One with licensing for Portal at Level 1 (30 users) and Level 2 (%0 users). Both for 10.5.

We are currently doing a high availability installation of ArcGIS Enterprise and keep running into a few installation issues with the joining of the portals. We are using an ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced License to license both portals but keep getting the following error: The two machines are licensed differently. Ensure both machines use the same level of licensing The only problem here is that we are using the EXACT same license on both machines which used the exact same setup. Could anyone offer some suggestions on why this might be happening as well as assist in helping chart a solution for the same? Thanks for your reply Jonathan. This was actually one of the first things we did. Everything is identical within the keycodes file, up to and including the License file number, date of expiration and the products listed. This is why we are quite baffled.

Thanks Rebecca. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an option to do so. The closest action that gets to that is the Move option which basically means moving to a different space. Perhaps I am missing a privilege? Not so sure.
