While my versioning requirements here are minimal, I try to use what is best for varied requirements. The DEFAULT is / has been what is put out there for Feature Layers. Previously "unversioned" with editing, "Feature Access" opened up, now Portal helps manage some security for that. Now Branch Versioning enables time-control(?) of Feature Layer editing, and also with release of Pro v2.5 caching of non-Branched Feature layer edits can be undone, well there are some capabilities I am testing with PostGres w/ Pro 2.5, Pro 2.3x (third party support requirements), Portal 10.6.1, web apps, even ArcMap (has no idea what branched versioning is). When publishing, version management can be enabled for branch versioned feature layers, some capabilities are enabled you may be looking for. I have been able to, as I just did it without seeing red - so far, versioned one feature dataset as "Traditional" versioning, with another feature dataset as "Branch" versioning, using two different geodatabase connections to the same PostGres enterprise geodatabase. Still testing, no idea if supported, but: Theoretically you can enjoy the control, QA/QC of traditional versioning, and have some control of Feature Layer types of edit flows with branch versioning. Just not within the same feature dataset.

Worked for me too. As the documentation dictates https only, wondering why default install left this unchecked? Quick search found this, thanks! Ours is not to reason why... back to beta testing my new P ortal.

This other post below was answered well, and relates to your question: https://community.esri.com/thread/191678-arcgis-data-store-and-rdbms Otherwise, beyond that, lately I find that being real specific when googling / duckduckgoing and referring more to ESRI developers area, https://developers.arcgis.com/ as opposed to the general folks area usually points me in the right direction.

I think it may have been defined / inherited from a layer file I used to re-define symbology. That layer had 2 domains, which I may have read somewhere before may cause this. This one has one domain. Featurelayer re-creation including re-defining symbology, not using the previous layer file to re-symbolize, seems a way around to try. Thanks again, Lee

Indeed, how would I manage the REST order with featurelayer? I know I’m missing something… I have Drawing Info: - here, nice order, as with REST MapServer Legend, etc. and Types: - where order is not so nice and is picked up in templatepicker: deleted link, but can provide explanatory REST endpoint if further interest...Lee

Using one layer, defined / imported symbology, created a featurelayer. When editing with templatepicker the icons, labels list differently that expected, not as defined in the layer. The rest endpoint shows "Type" and lists as in the order they are displayed in templatepicker. The problem is this is different than defined in layer, and I have yet to find how to control how rest makes the "Type" and it's order. I have one domain in my egdb for a different item, and use the "template" for editing, etc. with the order as desired. Thanks in advanced, not finding a fix, Lee

Search widget use bombs with "A problem occurred with this webpage" with ArcGIS online hosted apps, I have a few, does this across the board. The widget works fine in a jsapi app we hosted elsewhere. Also seems to work ok using Chrome on iPad / iPhone. Seems to be a common Safari / iOS issue, in general, but sure is an issue with AGOL hosted apps. AGOL / Search widget and Safari, are there any workarounds? ... besides these: -Running webpage / AGOL hosted app from an icon on home screen seemed to help -Other sources referred to clearing cache, freeing memory, no results for us with that -using chrome on iOS devices, which seemed to help ?

First thanks for this discussion, I've saved a lot of research time (what is ArcGIS Portal?) scrolling through these posts in five minutes, and noticed this when looking for something else. I fully understand why we have security. I've always been an intranet and internet are two separate things subscriber and save time and money and headaches that way. Yes to AWS if needed, yes to AGOL for sure, and yes to ArcGIS server internally. Anyways, try another browser / firefox / chrome on the Websense thing, they didn't get to that yet...

The api can be hosted locally. Never had the issue, but yes, today I do...Don't know how to test for their api availability. I have used esri.request to try to get json callback to test and trap for map service availability.

Well, I've done the obvious by contacting support to see about how to authorize the extension. ...and here's my keycode from support in my email! And, at a minimum, I've kicked up the activity here for this product. A new planner here thought it a good fit as the .mxds for their 2 base maps, FLU and zoning, are quite complex, and this would simplify their zoom in and print requests. Other users there are casual at best, so this product may be a good fit, as ol' ArcView version 1 was back in the day. We do ArcGIS javascript API apps on server, but replicating the official map look and feel would be tedious.

How can one test Publisher / ArcReader? We have EDN, quite useful, yet that extension reports "not authorized" when I try to enable for a desktop install. Just want to test since a user here had experience with ArcReader in the past, and see if it fits here. Rather than maybe uninstall my entire dev machine and re-install and see if it is authorize-able, which I doubt, I figured I'd ask someone may have had similar experience.
