Not true. "ArcGIS Server allows publishing group layers which translate to a sub folder in the REST folder structure" This is not the same thing...group layers of one individual service do not translate to sub folders in a REST folder structure which is comprised of many individual REST services. Anyway you miss the point, and this is about AGOL.

This is not answering the question of personal content. We have no problem fashioning ways to streamline content delivery to the end user. Lets say someone wanted to organize all of the data, layers, maps and apps created for a specific project, but this project was one of many for a department...of which there are many departments. Currently one department folder will have many many types of data for non realated projects, and this can be pages and pages of data. The current solution does not scale well for individual content management. Nested folders are nothing new, and I see this is possible with other content management/BI platforms like Tableau. This seems strangely similar to the limitation of ArcGIS Server rest service directory structure. Could there be a link?

I've been using a v10.0 composite locator, running in 10.1 and have had ArcMap repeatedly crash when I try to geocode a batch from a file gdb table, only 46 records. The table has street, city, state and zip code fields. Composite locator is on machine and not as service, so not a time out-issue. The locator is made up of one dual range street and two point locators. All have "match with no zones = yes". This same locator used to work fine in 10.0 without fail. I found that the input mappings were all set to <None> for each participating locator, which in 10 appeared to have pre-loaded address fields. Was the change to no pre-loaded fields a change from 10 to 10.1? Do I need to do this for other locators? Best, Ben H.

I have a kml feed going into an ArcGIS online map that takes nearly 8 seconds to load. Any suggestions to optimize for speed? Ultimately, the map is being consumed/viewed in a gallery, but is slow on arcgis.com as well. See http://www3.multco.us/maps/district2gallery ...the "Out and About" map is the culprit. Thanks much for any assistance! Ben

Hi All, Can anyone help me figure out how to manipulate the map legend to an ArcGIS online kml service that only displays point symbol text as "style ID". Since the symbols I've used are all the same, you would think they could be grouped to one layer name and be edited. See map here: http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=fcd5cefe96ff4e5cbdc67fcdd5e28725 FYI - I'm not able to modify much on the Google side other than changing symbol. Thanks in advance for any help! -Ben

Can someone at ESRI address this question in more detail, or escalate the question to someone who is knowledgeable with the API? Is the Heat Map in Silverlight actually a point density analysis, much like that in the desktop spatial analysis toolbox. I understand that the intensity is a measure of cell size, but what about the search radius; is there a default not being revealed to the user? Also, does the heat map result get regenerated on each successive extent view or the entire feature extent?
