Thanks for this info. I'm interested in this topic as well. I'm having a problem with my aerial image when I add it to ArcScene. When I add the image it becomes very pixelated. The quality of the imagery changes and looks terrible. However, in ArcMap the imagery is beautiful, great quality. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I'm having trouble with the ArcGIS to Sketchup workflow. I have 4 building footprints that I extruded. I want to get them into SketchUp for Editing. Here's what I'm doing. Layer 3D to Feature Class ----> Multipatch to Collada -----> Open in SketchUp 8 SketchUp will not open Collada file. The files I try to open are .dae SketchUp gives me a message saying "this does not appear to be a SketchUp Model" I've watched these videos over and over trying to pick up on a step I may have missed. http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/3dgis/archive/2010/10/25/ArcGIS-to-SketchUp-and-back.aspx I noticed in one of the videos the collada folder contains .kml file. In my collada folder I do not see a .kml files only .dae files. I'm at a loss at this point. I know I'm missing something just don't know what. Any info would be great. Thanks

Collada export is new in version 10 so this blog article only applies to version 10. This only means that you cannot export ArcGIS multipatch to SketchUp but you can use the SketchUp 6 plugin to export TIN and vector feature classes. (In version 10 vector featurs cannot be easily exported unless polygons which need to be converted to multipatch first) In ArcGIS 9.3.1 and older you can use a command to import SketchUp 6 models but georeference information is not imported. Thank you for the response. I have Sketchup 8, don't know if that makes a difference. Do you know of an article explaining the command line procedure? Also do you know of a solution to georeferencing?

I downloaded a DEM from the USGS seemless server. I added it to ArcScene. I want to show the elevation in the DEM. Here's what I've done: Went to properties - base heights - clicked on "obtains heights for layer from surface". I'm selecting the DEM. When I run this process the DEM disappears. What steps I'm I missing? Any suggestions? I'm a student, please excuse the lack of knowledge. Thanks in advance.
