Hi again, found a workaround: When I opened my python scripts I used right-mouse-click/IDLE. On my machine this opens IDLE on Python 3.4 and so with the new arcpy64bit objectmodell. When I open IDLE within the ArcGIS-Python 2.7 startmenu (C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.3\pythonw.exe) and then "Open..." in the "File" menu ... go to my script location ... it works ... Documentation on this would have been fine. And that the new 64bit-arcpy-library has the same name than the old 32bit-arcpy is a NO-GO, isn't it? Best regards, Christoph

Hi Mody, I think the ESRI-documentation on this topic is not enough. I have installed pro and 10.3 on the same machine as well. When I try to run my old arcpy-scripts (there are several, made on python 2.7 and arcpy 10.2 32bit) in IDLE, then nothing runs, because IDLE is looking on python 3.4 and arcpy 10.3. When I run the scripts within ArcGIS 10.3 Desktop it works, because ArcGIS 10.3 Desktop takes the 2.7 python library and the old arcpy 32 bit library. Of course I would like to use IDLE as I did before. When I migrate one of the old scripts to arcpy 64 (2to3) and correct all the new classnames and so on, then I get RuntimeError: Not signed into Portal. So like in ArcGISPro I have to sign into arcgis-online or my own portal (if available) wiht my named user. I would do this, if I knew how ... Any ideas? Or is the ESRI strategy to do all scripting within ArcGIS desktop or ArcGIS pro ...? Then they should let us know ... or tell us how to switch the IDLE-IDE to pyhon 2.7 ... Best regards from Berlin, Christoph

Hi, I tried to set breakvalues and breaklabels on a graduatedsymbol-layer. When the layer has no join it works fine, but I need to join a SDE table in order to classify one field of the joined table. Even if I take a field of the non-joined part of the table (e.g. AREA_HA) the script gets an RuneTime-Error. Within the desktop application it works fine as well ... Any ideas are welcome! Best regards from Berlin, Christoph import arcpy
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(r"MJoin.mxd")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd, "Layer")[0]
lyr = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd, "AGHWahlkreise", df)[0]

Hi, still looking for support on this topic. ESRI Germany released german locator styles on the release of ArcGIS 10.0 last year. Now we are working on release 10.1 and the styles do not work anymore. Is there a possibility to have a good documentation on locator styles like this: http://resources.arcgis.com/gallery/file/geocoding/details?entryID=51EE55F8-1422-2418-7F8B-FD82DE958878 but on release 10.1. Or at least an upgrade of the documentation with the main changes? I heard, that esri-germany will not upgrade the german locators-styles, but so the geocoding engine is useless for us, because it makes no sense to geocode german streets with american locatorstyles ... Probably there is somebody who made an address-locator-style with german spelling rules? Probably we are the only customer who uses the geocoding engine of ESRI out of the United States? 😉 Best regards from Berlin, Christoph

Hi, in ArcGIS 9.3.1 there have been german adress locators an enhanced functionality (see http://support.esri.de/index_23158.HTML). Has anybody experience/docoumentation about these locators. I get an error in Version 9.3.1 while puting in my reference data (see attachment). Any ideas about this? Further more I would like to try the new Engine of ArcGIS 10 with german address data. Is it possible to use the former functionality (German Phonetic etc.) of 9.3.1. If so, how can I do this. Just copy the locators (if so, which files/dirs in detail)? I tried and got the "error 000042 Error while executing CreatAdressLocator. Adresslocator could not be created". Is there a possibility to get more detailed information on the error (e.g. logfile). Looking forword for any ideas ...(templates, links) Thanks, Christoph
