Hello, Would you be able to describe the actual migration in a bit more detail? What method(s) were used to migrate the ArcGIS Server deployment moved from one machine to another?

Hi Jay, With respect to both Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Data Store, you could remote onto the machine on which tthe primary Portal for ArcGIS and primary ArcGIS Data Store instances are installed, and stop the associated Windows service. This will cause a failover to occur and promote the standby Portal for ArcGIS machine to be "primary" and the standby ArcGIS Data Store to be "primary". When stopping the Windows services, you should be able to then navigate to Portal Administrator Directory ("Home" > "Machines") and see that the formerly primary portal machine is now the standby. With respect to ArcGIS Data Store, you should be able to log into ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory ("Home" > "data" > "items > "enterpriseDatabases" > <AGSDataStore...> > "machines") and see which machine is now primary and which is now standby. Once you have verified that the failover has occurred, you can remote back into each of the machines that you were remoted into previously and start the Windows services again on each machine that the components were previously designated as "primary" so that these components are now ready to be promoted in the event that a failover is necessary. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Dave, Does this happen as part of any other publishing process (i.e. with Map Services, Feature Services, Geoprocessing Services) when publishing to this ArcGIS Server site? Would you be able to provide the full error message that is encountered within the desktop application that you are using when publishing the Geocode Service? Also, have you tried querying the ArcGIS Server logs after the error message is encountered?

Hi Josh, Is the account that is running the ArcGIS Server Windows service on each machine a domain account or a local account? Could we try running the Configure ArcGIS Server Account utility on both machines using the existing ArcGIS Server account, config-store, and directories? Running this utility with the existing configurations will ensure that the ArcGIS Server account has permissions to all file locations that it needs to in order to operate successfully. Thank you, Jacob

Hi Joris, Would you be able to try the following? Instead of using: logFilter = "{'server': ['*'], 'services': ['*'], 'machines': ['*']}" Let's try: logFilter = "{'server': ['*'], 'services': ['*'], 'machines': ['ALL']}" Does this produce the output that you expected? Thank you, Jacob

Hi Arne, If the data source that is being published is not registered with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Server would most likely copy the data to the server if the ArcGIS Server site that is being published to is not the hosting server. As you alluded to with the description of your testing, ArcGIS Server must have some kind of way to access the underlying data. During the publishing process, it will perform the check to see if the file path that is being used to publish has been registered with ArcGIS Server. If not, then it will make a copy of this data in "arcgisserver\directories\arcgissystem\arcgisinput". Please let me know if you have any questions. -Jacob

Hi Thomas, There is no specific documented limit with respect to the number of services that can be published and have their data copied into the relational data store. However, ArcGIS Data Store is designed for organizations to utilize it to publish thousands of services and have it store the underlying data for these services. Hosted services have a smaller memory footprint as opposed to services that have been published to a federated server that is not the hosting server, and therefore demand less hardware resources. Please let me know if you have any questions. -Jacob

Hi Daniel, I have some questions based on the information that you have provided. See the questions below: 1. Is this a standalone ArcGIS Server site? Or has the ArcGIS Server site been federated with Portal for ArcGIS? 2. Have you tried publishing from other interfaces besides ArcGIS Server Manager? 3. Can you try validating the managed database from the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory endpoint and provide the results? You can do this by signing into ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory and navigating to "data > "items" > "enterpriseDatabases". From the list of "Child Items", click on the Enterprise Geodatabase that you would like to validate. Then, click "machines" > "<Machine Name>" > "validate". Please let us know what is returned here. Thank you, Jacob

Hi David, Yes, you absolutely can do this. This is actually something that can be done in ArcGIS Pro that cannot be done in ArcMap. ArcGIS Pro allows for you to seamlessly interact with services hosted within you ArcGIS Enterprise environment through portal connections. The first thing you want to do is to make a connection to your portal from ArcGIS Pro, and set this portal as the "active portal". See the following document that explains how to do this within ArcGIS Pro: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/projects/manage-portal-connections-from-arcgis-pro.htm#GUID-E2EB9576-E70B-4878-9541-E411D9AF56A2 Once the connection has been made, and the portal connection that you have made is set as your active portal, you can drag and drop services from ArcGIS Enterprise into an ArcGIS Pro Map using the "Portal" tab within the "Catalog" pane. -Jacob

Hi Elie, I am noticing that the URL that you are using to access ArcGIS Server Manager in the attached screenshot is "https://localhost:6443/arcgis". To Michael's point above, the URL to access ArcGIS Server Manager would be "https://localhost:6443/arcgis/manager". The "manager" portion of the URL is what specifies for the ArcGIS Server Manager web application to be opened in your browser. Are you able to access the URL above without receiving any errors?

Hi Clinton, It looks like you are seeing these errors in the browser console due to the fact that the ArcGIS API for JavaScript is specified to be accessed via CDN within the settings in the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory. In the case that you have demonstrated, the ArcGIS Server machine would need access to the internet in order to retrieve the necessary files it needs to access the API via CDN. If the ArcGIS Server machine does not have internet access, an alternative to CDN would be to download the ArcGIS API for JavaScript and deploy it on-premise. Please see the following document associated with version 3.x of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, which details different ways in which you can access ArcGIS API for JavaScript 3.x: Get the ArcGIS API for JavaScript | Guide | ArcGIS API for JavaScript 3.27 Additionally, please see the following document that explains how to customize the JavaScript API URL's that are utilized by the ArcGIS Server REST Services Directory: Configuring the REST API—ArcGIS REST API: Services Directory | ArcGIS for Developers I hope that this is helpful. Thank you, Jacob

Hi Lance, It is not mandatory for you to configure the ArcGIS Web Adaptor with ArcGIS Server, as it is for Portal for ArcGIS. However, configuring the ArcGIS Web Adaptor with ArcGIS Server allows for the integration of ArcGIS Server with your existing web server. Please see the following document that explains the purpose of integrating ArcGIS Web Adaptor with ArcGIS Server: Inside an ArcGIS Server site—ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) Installation Guide (10.6.1) | ArcGIS Enterprise
