I have a tree inventory layer. The arborist wants to be able to search for spruce trees with a hazard recommendation for removal. He wants to see the results on the map. He then wants to be able initiate another search for pine tree with the same hazard recommendation and have those show up on the map with different symbols. The catch, he wants to see both results at the same time with different symbols. Can this be done?

Okay well, it worked for about half a day and now it doesn't. Which is weird. Almost like I got away with something and then got caught by the software lol.

Ladybug, go to My Org and click on the Users name and then choose Manage Items. Then you should be able to see the layer.

I am testing a way around this by creating a dummy feature layer and inserting it into the map and allowing editing for that single layer. The dummy feature layer has no features in it. So far, its working.

Anyone try my solution? Of course, you can only have one owner but it does work.

I have a map showing areas for recycle pickups. I did it this way. I invited the person I wanted to do the editing and set them up as a User. Then, I uploaded a zip file and created a hosted feature layer. I edited the details for the hosted feature layer and disabled editing and saved it. Then, created a web map and added the hosted feature layer and shared the map publicly. I then went in again to edit the details for the hosted feature layer and changed the owner to the person I invited(my editor). Done. Now, when the editor wants to edit, they login to AGOL, click My Content, they click the arrow to the right of its name and choose to open it in a map with full editing. When they are finished editing, they click the arrow to the right of the layer and choose to Save Layer. They close out the web map without saving it.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the person doing the editing can be a User and not an Admin. Just make the User the owner of the hosted feature layer.

There is a way to do this. Whoever is going to be editing a hosted feature layer, make them the owner of that layer. Disable editing on the web map and hosted feature layer. Then you can share the web map publicly and no one else can edit it. Except an Admin of course. I just did it and it works.

So, let me see if I get this. If I enable sharing for everyone on a web map with a layer that has editing enabled...then anyone in the world can edit it?

What I would like to do is use both my aerial as well as Bing maps as backgrounds via the mapswitcher. Problem is when I put this: <map initialextent="506359 283843 559527 309834 3736" top="40"> <basemaps> <layer label="Streets" type="bing" visible="true" style="road" culture="en-US" /> <layer label="Aerial" type="bing" visible="false" style="aerial" culture="en-US" /> <layer label="Aerial with labels" type="bing" visible="false" style="aerialWithLabels" culture="en-US" /> <layer label="Laramie Aerial" type="image" visible="false" alpha="1" url="http://icarus/ArcGIS/rest/services/Laramie/ImageServer"/> Everything works except when the initial map pops up, its somewhere in the atlantic ocean instead of Laramie,WY. The coords and spatial reference in the initial extent are in state plane feet for Laramie,WY because my aerial and all my data is in state plane. Is there a way I can get this to work so the map comes up centered on Laramie? If I can then I can just toggle between Bing map backgrounds and my aerial.
