I am creating a form to assess tree measurements in the field. I have a JS function already in place that calculates the root of mean squares on the top 8 largest trees, sorted by their DBH. However, I need it to only run these calculations on two specific species of trees, and I'm not versed enough in Javascript to do so. I tried to use the relevant column but I realized this just hides the calculations on certain trees while still running the script. The two species abbreviations (name: tree_species) are 'PISI' and 'TSHE'. All other species cannot be included in the calculations, otherwise it will skew results. I have attached a script that a previous user on here helped me figure out, as well as the XLS form. If someone could give me some guidance, it would be very appreciated. I can't help but think it's an easy fix, but I have no experience with Javascript Thanks, Jess

Hi all, I am trying to use the relevant column to show questions that are dependent on certain values in a drop down list. Interns will be collecting information for various plant species, and will select one species at a time, but multiple species codes necessitate a new field that I hope to keep hidden unless that species is selected. For example, we have codes such as ALRU2_S1, ALRU2_S2, and ALRU2_S3 to indicate different sizes of red alder seedlings. I'm hoping to keep the "Count" field hidden unless a seedling code is entered. I've had a lot of success with the following, which is currently working for one value at a time: selected(${species}, 'ALRU2_S1') I am wondering how to add multiple values in this syntax so that the seedling count field pops up for more than one species code, if that is not within Survey123 limitations. Thanks! Jessika

Hi Taylor, I basically copied the extensions folder with the JS function into my folder for the survey. I was able to edit the function in Notepad to make slight changes, save as a .JS, and it worked pretty well! The big thing I noticed is that despite the error message in Survey123 Connect, the form works once its downloaded onto your device. If you are receiving similar error messages, you should try downloading the form to assess its functionality. Does that answer your question? Thanks, Jessika

Thank you so much! Unfortunately I also lack JS proficiency, and I have not been able to get this to work in the form. It reads the message: Error: Qt.createQmlObject(): failed to create object: c:/Users/jessikamcfarland/ArcGIS/My Survey Designs/QMD test RMS/extensions:2:1: Script file:///C:/Users/jessikamcfarland/ArcGIS/My Survey Designs/QMD test RMS/extensions/JSFunctions.js unavailable Any ideas? Thanks a ton - the JS function will be incredibly helpful, just trying to navigate how to implement it now.

I am creating forms for a forestry study. We collect the diameters of trees in a plot, among other information. I use the repeat feature for collecting tree data. We sort the trees from largest to smallest to calculate the quadratic mean diameter of the 8 biggest trees. I am wondering if it's possible to view/sort the tree entries by largest-smallest diameter, in some sort of table, list, other form, etc besides navigating back to the form submission. Interns may see over 100 trees in a given plot, so navigating the entries by hand to figure out which are largest could be inefficient and tedious in a field setting. I'm pretty new to Survey123 so I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!
