Mohamed, Step assignment was deprecated at 10.4 and path assignment is recommended for what you are trying to do. Set the assignment on the path to assign the job to a group and then a member of the group can assign a job to themselves. Make sure the user who will assign the job to themselves have one or more of the following privileges as appropriate: GroupJobAssign - User can assign any job that is assigned to their group(s) to anybody in their group(s). IndividualJobAssign - User can assign any job to themselves that is assigned to their group, and also back to their group from themselves. AssignAnyJob - User can assign any job to any individual or group at any time Thanks, Nishi

Heather, Could you check the logs and provide more information about what is written in the logs when this error shows? To check where your logs are stored you need to run the WMXAdvancedSettings.exe in the Workflow Manager Install bin folder. Further, since this is not a known issue I suggest you contact the Technical Support for troubleshooting. Thanks, Nishi

Hello Amanda, Verify ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server is installed, authorized and accessible. 1. Restart ArcGIS Server service after ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server is installed. 2. Check ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server is authorized and license is not expired. If license is not found, authorize the ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server. For instruction see: Authorizing ArcGIS Serverhttp://server.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/install/windows/authorize-arcgis-server.htm 3. Add the user running the ArcGIS Server services, the ArcGIS Server user by default, to the database with read and write permissions. This is applicable when using Operating System authentication. Note: Contact your database administrator , if you are not responsible for the database changes. 4. Install ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server on each cluster in the ArcGIS Server cluster environment. Thanks, Nishi

Hello Ryan, In this case it seems when you create a job and immediately start executing there is lock put on the JTX_Jobs table and when you try to rename the job, you cannot do it due to the lock. When you restart the application the lock is released. I suggest you submit a Technical Support ticket for information on this and any help this may require. Hope this helps, Nishi

Hello, It seems the SQL login - Workflow Manager Connection credential - Workflow Manager Username mapping may not be correct. You would have run the Post Install with the schema owner credentials which added the Workflow Manager Connection in Administrator on your machine and your windows username was added to the Workflow Manager database as a user and given Administrator Privilege. Thus, the mapping of your SQL login - Workflow Manager connection credential - Your Workflow Manager username is correct and that's why you are able to login on your machine. You could I suggest you create 2 sets of SQl logins one for the Workflow Manager Administrators and other for Workflow Manager Users who would not connect to the database in Workflow Manager Administrator. Add the Windows login of all users(Administrator and Users) who would connect to this database, to Workflow Manager database as Users. Add the connection with the Administrator login and distribute that .jtc file to the Administrators. Add the connection with User login and distribute that .jtc file to the Users. If you must have a separate SQL login associated with each of your Administrator and Users. This would be recommended only if the above option is not acceptable. Create SQL Login for each of the Administrator and Users. Add the connection with the Administrator login, Add the Windows login of all users(Administrator and Users) who would connect to this database, to Workflow Manager database as Users. In Workflow Manager Administrator, Open User Properties from the context menu on database connection. Select the Option "Each User will connect with their own database login" Add the User and map the SQL login with the Windows user name Adding a WMX Database connection in the Administrator—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop , You can add only the username as well and the users can provide the password in Client Application by Setting the database login Using the Edit menu—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Some more information about Users and Groups, deploying a Workflow Manager system and Using domains: Users and groups—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Deploying a Workflow Manager system—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Authenticating against domains—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Hope this helps, Thanks, Nishi

One more thing I forgot to mention, every machine on which you are connecting to this database - you need to set this database as default database. The instructions for the same are Changing the Default Database in the Administrator—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

Hello, Could you provide a little more information about these: Are you using Database Authentication or using User Properties and "Each User will connect with their own database login" option. Were you able to connect to Workflow Manager Client application on your machine where you did all the setup? On the Client machine, are you logged in with your Windows user account and connecting to the Workflow Manager Client or one of the users you added to the Technicians group are logged in Windows and connecting to the Workflow Manager Client? If you are using User Properties and "Each User will connect with their own database login" option. Try removing the properties and then refresh database and try connecting in Workflow Manager Client. Since Workflow Manager authenticates users based on their Windows login, the user logged in Windows is the one logging to Workflow Manager Client application. To get appropriate information about which database privileges to be given to which type of user, you can check the ArcGIS Workflow Manager Database Design Doc, it is in the Workflow Manager installation folder under Help - Install Folder\ArcGIS\WMX\Desktop10.3\Help. A way to distribute and deploy Workflow Manager is to set it up on a machine and then share the .jtc file for the database with your users. They can double click on the jtc file on their machine to create a connection to the database and set it as the default database on their machine. You would not need to manually create the connections on each machine. The location of.jtc file can be identified using WMXAdvanceSettings.exe in Workflow Manager install Bin folder. The location for "Databases" is where you would find your .jtc file. Hope this helps, Nishi

Hi Amanda, There are a few things you can check to ensure the correct steps are being used and they are configured correctly. Check if the steps can be run on the Server, that is they are not JTXDesktop specific steps. The steps under JTXSteps can be run on both Desktop and Server. If the steps can be run on the Server, then check if they are configured to be run on the Server. In the Step Type Execution Properties the Supported Platform should be set to "Both" for the steps to be run on Server and Desktop. Thanks, Nishi

Hello Jim, Yes, you can create custom tokens by implementing IJTXTokenParser interface and registering the dll. The JTX_Token_Parser table has order of the various token parsers. You would manually edit the table and add the token parser information as well the order it should be parsed in. The order of the parser is important, to make sure the information required by your parser exists when it is being called. Thanks, Nishi

I've installed Workflow Manager for ArcGIS Server 10.2 but I can't find the Workflow Manager Client Application. Is there a separate install required for this? There is an ArcGIS Workflow Manager folder on the Start menu but the only thing in there is a folder of Developer Help and the files inside don't work for some reason. I've been searching the folders in C:\Program Files\WMX\Server10.2 as well and have been unsuccessful thus far. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brett Brett, Workflow Manager Client Application is part of the Workflow Manager for Desktop install, thus you need to get Workflow Manager for ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 to get the client application and the administrator application. With the Workflow Manager for Server you get the server implementation, the Web viewers(Flex, Javascript), REST API, SOAP API, Flex API, JavaScript API and the Silverlight API. Thanks, Nishi

I am unable to create new jobs in workflow manager 10.2. Some of the Icon in Standard Tool bar of workflow manager is inactive, specialliy the create new jobs. Please help me. I am using ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 advanced license and SQL server 2008 R2. Thanks Thillai Thillai, It seems the workflow manager user you are connected as does not have the correct privileges. Make sure the Workflow Manager user you are connected as is part of a group which has the create job privilege. For reference see: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/#/Users_and_Groups/00380000001s000000/ Thanks, Nishi

Hi, This is Vivek from India, I need your help, I am a new user to WorkFlow Manger and trying for the installation of ArcGIS WorkFlow Manager 10.1, I am also following esri 10.1 best practices whitepaper. My DB has completed Step1 & Step2 , I exported dbtune file and now I am not able to understand which tablespace name do I need to change with for the appropriate parameters. If you can help me that will be a gr8 help. My Database configuration is as following. Only one master SDE repository geodatabase was created The default data type is ST_Geometry The spatial data within GIS_CVE of ORADV131 have been copied to GIS_CVE in ORADV141 Default tablespace for spatial data is CVE_VECTOR, CVE_INDEX Configuration keyword SRC is created to load spatial data to GIS_SRC and table spaces (SRC_VECTOR, SRC_INDEX) I am not able to make a decision whether ##Default or ##SRC parameter, I have to choose for configuring ##WMX Parameter, In the configure file there are certain parameters, example XML_IDX_INDEX_TAG, for this parameter which tablespace do I choose ? For your reference, have attached my dbtune_exp.sde file, request you to kindly have a look and suggest. Kind Regards Vivek vivekk.gaikwad@gmail.com Hello Vivek, You need to export the dbtune to a file, copy the ##DEFAULTS keyword to the end of the text file and rename it ##WMX, then change the tablespaces names for ??WMX_....?. Follow the white paper dbtune example to determine which parameters you have to change the tablespace name in the ##WMX keyword and leave the other parameters with the ##DEFAULTS tablespace name. If there is no problem in doing this, then import the dbtune text file back to you SDE master geodatabase. Further, follow the white paper recommendations and create the tablespaces WMX_BDATA, WMX_BINDEX, WMX_SDATA, WMX_SINDEX, WMX_FDATA, WMX_FINDEX, WMX_ADATA, WMX_AINDEX, WMX_DDATA, WMX_DINDEX, then replace the tablespace names as described above. You can see an example of a complete dbtune file for an sde master geodatabase in this best practices white paper, it shows how to change the tablespace name for all the ##DEFAULTS parameters.
