Hi Robert, Thank you for this awesome widget. I saw it at ESRI PUG conference last week in a demo. I was wondering how easy would it be to add an option to select a line instead of drawing it on a map and use that line's location to create an elevation profile? Or should i perform this task by creating a geoprocessing tool? Thank you! Adam

the easiest way to get rid of the "ArcGISConnectionBin.exe" error is to go into the folder where ArcGIS Explorer is installed and rename the "ArcGISConnectionBin.exe" file (for me it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Explorer (x86)\bin). This will stop ArcGISConnectionBin.exe to load when opening Explorer. This will not affect anything with Explorer. The error is caused from having IE10 on the system.

Add the shapefile in ArcMap, create your field alias names and then save the layer file. The layer file will retain the alias names when you add it back to AGX.

it could be version dependent. I know mxd's are version dependent, maybe so are the mpks? Sorry, I have no way to test the theory out. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//006600000403000000 there is a caution: Map Packages are supported from ArcGIS for Desktop version 10.0 onwards. Map packages will fail to open with older versions (9.3.1 or older).

That simple solution worked perfectly! Thanks! Found that it also works for regular ArcGIS as well.

Users came to me with another "make it like Google" request. They click on the Google Maps map, right-click "What's Here" and get a green arrow. Then click the green arrow and they get what they want. A nice arrow and a popup with coordinates in both decimal degrees and DMS. Perfection! The only reason they are even asking for something else is that we'd like to add our own data on top. As far as I can tell, AGS Explorer has no built in method to do this and I haven't seen a tool for it in the gallery. Anyone have a way to get this functionality, short of coding from the SDK? Thanks. Technically, the tool is already there.. If your user use the 'Point' tool and click on the map, it will create a new 'Note'. Right click on the 'Note'-> 'Properties' , lat lon are there. Granted, it's a bit of a hassle. Another route is you could create a geoprocessing tool that creates a point and with lat long as its attributes and load it into ArcGIS Server. Add the tool into ArcGIS Explorer.

All I have available is ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, is it possible to do it only with this or will I need to download something else? Unfortunately, it's not possible with only ArcGIS Explorer. However, I noticed that you want to see the geology of TX. Have you tried using the "Search Window". Type in "Geology of Texas" it will return services that other's have created and you can add that into your ArcExplorer project. Another route is to download a free subscription of ArcGIS for Desktop and convert the mdb to gdb if you don't have ArcGIS.

Not sure if there is a direct tool that will convert it in one step but here's a two step process: Start Arc Catalog - Create a new File Geodatabase (.gdb) - You can either right click on the (.mdb) to Export to Geodatabase (multiple)

Mark, Yes we have both installed on the machines- Win 7 & IE 10. Are there any solutions right now for that? (Also, I haven't seem to solve my labeling issue from a previous post: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/88559-ArcExplorer-Hangs-Crashes-When-a-Layer-with-Labels-is-Added ) Thank you.

Any have this issue of "ArcGIS Connection has stopped working" when opening ArcGIS Explorer? It's becoming a constant thing with my users who only have Explorer installed on their machines. For some reason there is no issue if ArcMap is opened first and then ArcGIS Explorer. Any ideas? Thank you. Make sure the "Clip Output to Graphics Extent" is not checked and also under the 'Format' tab make sure your background color is either 'No Color' or 'White'. FYI- Your question is in the wrong forum.
