Please add an option to draw text with the draw widget in the Experience Builder!
In the draw widget in the WAB you can add text elements to the map. I'd like to use this for my maps used in the Experience Builder as well.
Thanks in advance!

@ha_hyang you could still have your data in Enterprise and just store the reference to it as a layer in ArcGIS Online. That is how I do most things. I have a stand alone ArcGIS Server that references enterprise geodatabases on our own database server and then I store the map service as a layer item in ArcGIS Online. We just host the applications in ArcGIS Online.
Thanks @DavidLARUELLE.
When you mean "Another option is using ArcGIS Online Experience Builder with your internal data.", i have to publish our internal data to AGOL?
Helen
@ha_hyang because the text option has been release after ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3, you should use Experience Builder Developer Edition to get the very last functionnalities. By the way, this is a long lasting option to get all the latest functionnalities of Experience Builder running with older ArcGIS Enterprise deployments.
Another option is using ArcGIS Online Experience Builder with your internal data.
@Jianxia, Hi,
We have just upgraded to Enterprise 11.3. In order to use the draw/text option, what option can we have?
Thanks in advance.
Works great! Thank you to @Jianxia and the ESRI team to get this small (but mighty) addition to the Drawing widget. Much appreciated!
The Draw text tool is now added to the Draw widget in Online, which will be picked up by Developer Edition v1.16 in early December 2024 and Enterprise 11.5 in Q2 2025.
All, a new Draw text tool has been added to the Draw widget in Online, which will be picked up by Developer Edition v1.16 in early December and Enterprise 11.5 in Q2 2025. Thank everyone here for helping get this in!
100% agree. This is a key function of the Draw tool. Hard to believe it was not included from the start.
Thank you all. The draw text tool is planned to be available in the upcoming Experience Builder in Online November release. You may give it a try through the Online Early Adopter community which is now open for beta testing.
On the plus side I will say that Experience Builder is a good enough product that we are using it even with some of the strange missing functionality. That said, I am sure ESRI is well aware at this point that text annotation really is a requirement. Ideally this needs to be part of the draw widget, but if it needs to be separate we just need it.
Yes, I agree. I would like to see a Text tool and Freehand Draw tool if possible. Thanks!
@Jianxia are you talking online or enteprise?

@Jianxia Thank you for letting us know it is in the works. Here's a +1 from me on the list of requesting users.
Since I'm playing around with ExB trying to migrate our apps from WAB, I've also noticed another oddity with the Draw widget. With drawings in the map, when I tried to drag my ExB app browser window to another screen, IF the window needs to be resized (to one of the 3 small medium large sizes), it will completely erase all of my drawings. Am I doing something wrong or is this intended behaviour? The ExB window should not be moved to another screen while in use?
Adding another upvote, that my whole organization, a major North American Railway company, needs this feature. And also, while we're in this discussion, a customizable scale bar, and option to add multiple scale bars even, all of which were available in WAB. In the meantime, I've found a workaround within the Draw widget, that is being circulated in my organization and the staff are using this method right now to markup their drawings to other non-GIS departments being introduced to Esri ArcGIS. It even supports Bold font and different sizes! Workaround shown in the screenshot example:
Thank you all for letting us know the importance of this feature. We are working on it and hopefully have it available in Q4.
I'm just commenting to be notified when movement has been made on this issue. I really find it hard to believe the tool wouldn't be as close to the WAB version as it possibly could. I'm currently testing Experience Builder, but not sure if I want to fully implement it without so many core WAB features.
Our users need to add text labels for the custom GeoPDFs they create out of our map app.
We are only a couple of weeks into transition from a WAB version of the app to an ExB version, and users are missing the capability already. Looking forward the function's addition so we can convince a few holdouts to move on from the WAB version of the app so we can retire it at last.

@Jianxia How about now? Is there any timeline 6 months later? This can't be that hard...
We recently transitioned to an EB map viewer and we've had multiple requests for this feature.
Hosting a 3rd party tool isn't an option for us.
@SavannahRoybal I completely agree!
This needs to be added to the built-in widget as many (most?) organizations are not in a position to integrate custom widgets.
@RyanKelley_NA Correct, in order to use a custom widget like that Draw Widget, you will need Developer Edition or an 11.X version of Enterprise.
@JeffreyThompson2 I dont believe that can be used if you are hosting the app in ArcGIS Online though.
In case anyone on this thread is unaware, the @RobertScheitlin__GISP Draw Widget supports adding text. Here is my visual update of his widget.
This really needs implemented!
@Expereince builder team - any updated on this?
Additional requests today for this feature. Seems like a basic one that should have been implemented from the beginning. I can't upvote again, but just bumping this one.
I have also just realized that adding text is not yet implemented in the drawing toolbar of EB. Upvoted and to be implemented with high priority.
This functionality is really important. Without it, our users are having to take screenshots of maps, upload them to a PDF editor, and add text in the PDF editor.
This blows my mind that it hasnt been fixed. I have to build all these now in two applications WAB and then again in experience when it all changes in a year. So frustrating. Has anyone found a work around or a trick to import a text draw widget from somewhere else?
