It would be great if there was a possibility in ArcGIS Pro to draw a polygon so that you can leave one side of the polygon open (without drawing). In municipal zoning it is highly important to draw a polygon this way. Now ArcGIS Pro doesn´t have a function that supports that.

Here is a picture illustrating the current situation:

This is the desired situation:

I hope to get this enhancement for ArcGIS Pro in the near future.

By definition, a polygon is a closed shape. Otherwise, it's just a line. Zoning is usually represented by land area, so you need closed polygons.

In your drawing, merge those two areas together if they are zoned the same.

You might play with Mask features—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation (I haven't tried this, no guarantees that you'll get the result you're looking for).  You would need to convert the polygons to lines and use the Create Overpass—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop and/or Create Underpass—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop and generate masking polygons.  Then try feature level masking...

I completely agree, when doing parcel editing it'd be easier when converting parcels to new roads, I need to then have an open ended polygon to account for a new street, but it doesn't allow for it.
