Thanks to the ArcGIS Pro development team for improving vector transparency capabilities well beyond what was possible in ArcMap! I did have trouble when symbolizing using a gradient fill layer, however. Even with no transparency, my layer (a set of buffers created in Pro) rasterized on export when I added a gradient fill to it.
It would be great to see support for vector gradient fills with and without transparency upon export.
