Portal 11.5 Upgrade problem

Hello

I just upgraded my Portal from 11.1 to 11.5 manually - this was successful, until i tried accessing my Portal home page at https://my.portal.com/portal/home, I am then redirected to portal/home/error.html without any further errors. This also applies when I try locally with FQDN, so not a WebAdaptor issue in my eyes.

However, I am able to reach portal/sharing/rest and /portal/portaladmin without any errors. And yes I have tried:

restarts
clearing my browser cache several times
updating my browsers (Edge and Chrome) to the latest version
private window

Anybody else have encountered this issue before? Thankful for any tips

Hello,

The error was escalated to ESRI Inc and a workaround was found for this case. The error was fixed by updating the federation to the ArcGIS Hosting Server and adding "NotebookServer" as serverFunction temporarily. The serverFunction value could be removed afterward (leaving the field blank). The /error.html on Portal Home did not occur anymore.

Since this error is happening when accessing the Portal through :7443/argis/home, I suspect this does not have anything to do with WebAdaptor. Patching was nevertheless tried, but did not mitigate the error unfortunately...

Thanks for your answer. These ports was opened in firewall prior to upgrade, so should not be an issue.

Please let me know how the upgrade goes on your end.

I'm preparing for an upgrade to 11.5 myself, so I've been reading all the various documentation for each version and see they added some ports that need to be open for Portal to work. In 11.3, ports 7820, 7830, and 7840 need to be open. You might want to verify those ports are open on your machine.

We have attempted to upgrade from 11.4 to 11.5. The homepage loads but our web applications do not even with the web applications patch applied. Web app builder applications display this error in the console. ExB apps just load a white page with no error.

We have a support call open with ESRI UK and have noticed that the 'C:\portal\framework\jsapi' folder is missing other jsapi folders after the upgrade. It may be worth checking to see which api's are showing for you.

We don't have a resolution so have restored a backup.

Status after a week of troubleshooting and multiple rollbacks/re-upgrades is that the case remains unsolved. I have been troubleshooting with Esri support every day since last week, and they still dont’t have any idea what is causing the Portal home page to be inacessable. Yesterday I tried the following:

Set up a new VM and did a clean install of 11.1
Did a «export site» from original 11.1
Did «Import site» on 11.1 on the new VM
upgraded the new VM from 11.1 to 11.5
Experienced the same error 😞
Still did a «export site»
uninstalled 11.5, and re-installed 11.5
Portal home page works completely fine on 11.5 clean install, however the error reoccurs after I do a «import site» on 11.5

It seems as if there is something wrong with the site causing the portal/home to be inacessable. Does anybody please have any idea about what could be causing this issue? Any help would be appriciated as I am running out of time

I tried rolling back the snapshot and re-upgrading Portal. However, I was forced to run a post upgrade in arcgis/portaladmin in order to finish the upgrade. I also had to repopulate the licence file

I am still unfortunately experiencing the same error.

And yes, I am getting the error with https://my.portal.com:7443/arcgis/home, so it must be Portal itself.

It worth reverting back to snapshot and start upgrading it again.

If not,

Ensure portalURL and privatePortalURL match your FQDN and protocol (HTTPS). (<Portal install directory>\arcgisportal\framework\etc\portal.properties)
Could you try accessing Portal home: https://my.portal.com:7443/arcgis/home

If this works, the issue is with the reverse proxy or WA mapping.
If it fails the same way, the problem is inside Portal itself.

3.Check if your SSL Certificates matches.

Without knowing anything about your deployment, all I could say is it would depend on how far along you are with the upgrade and whether or not this is a production deployment. I think at this point you should work with support if possible.

Thank you for your answer. Is it worth attempting to roll back the snapshot taken of the Portal server before upgrading and trying to re-install?

There are likely issues with accessing the items in the portal postgres db..... There is some kind of missing or mis-configuration of some config files. You really need to file a support ticket.

Regardless, I think the Portal should be accessible despite the federeated ArcGIS Server not being upgraded yet

Have you checked the Portal logs to see if there might be any useful information in them?
