The Introduction to ArcGIS Workflow Manager training is a two-day course focused on the ArcGIS for Workflow Manager extension. Students will learn how to use and implement ArcGIS Workflow Manager. ArcGIS Workflow Manager is a scalable enterprise workfow management system that automates and simplifies many aspects of performing and managing repeatable GIS and non-GIS work within an organization. Suggested instructions for designing workflows:

  1. List tasks to be done
  2. List people/resources available
  3. Find who is responsible for each task & assign
  4. Whiteboard the tasks in order with arrows depicting flows
  5. Create workflow diagram to visualize & share
    1. Update from shared feedback if necessary & reshare
  6. Create WMX repository
    1. Create users, groups and assign privileges
    2. Create your steps
    3. Create new workflow with steps connected with paths
    4. Associate workflow with Job Type
    5. Create a job for testing
      1. Test job
    6. Update if necessary & retest
  7. Train everyone on the new Jobtype/Workflow
  8. Deploy the new workflow to Production
