Add Attachments to an SDE table (not just layers)

To have the ability to upload attachments to an SDE table (not just feature layers). And adding attachments should be its own identity outside the editor widget... This functionality exists in arcgis api for Silverlight (AttachmentEditor Class). I don't understand why it's not existing in Javascript api??? We should have flexibility to chose a feature layer or an SDE table rest service to update.  I find it frustrating where older technology has better capabilities than new ones.  Thank You for your time.
