Support Statistics in Query Layer?

Can someone advise if it's possible to have Statistic supported in Query Layer?

I published a map service in which one of the query layer is build from a table and a polygon feature class in one SQL Server. Checked the REST interface is has supportsStatistics = False.....

I'm looking for this answer too. I have a published query layer and cannot get it to allow me to output any type of statistics. The response is "Unable to complete operation." The server logs show 'Geodatabase error: Underlying DBMS error.'

DB is SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM, normal queries and identifies work. The rest page shows 'Supports Statistics: true'

Getting statistics of a query layer is not supported as of today.

We are now at version 10.5.1 and it appears statistics on query layers STILL are not supported.  Is support for statistics on the roadmap at least?  This is a big problem for us.
