In the Esri course "Creating and Sharing GIS Content Using ArcGIS Online", I am in the first exercise on step 6. The goal is to publish a tiled map service. I am adding the Soils.tpk file to My Content in AGOL and the option to "Publish This File As A Hosted Layer" is not there to check. When I go ahead and add the item anyway and click the thumbnail to open the service in Map Viewer, it downloads a file called item.pkinfo to my computer. In the Settings Tab for that service, under Content Status, it says "Discourage the Use of this Item".
These items seem to feed into the lesson further as I proceed. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or if I need to do something else in order to proceed with this course?
Hi Rebecca, sorry to hear you're having an issue. I'm not able to replicate it. Could you confirm you are assigned the Publisher role, which would give you the ability to publish hosted feature layers?
