How do I extract values from a netCDF file?

I am working on my dissertation and have downloaded some data on ice velocities in Greenland. Its a NC file and I have managed to open it in Arc and have worked out how to make a table from it. However, all the dates come up fine in the table but in the velocity column, all the values are <Null>. How do I get the velocity values?
