I am looking for a custom version of the query widget.

I don't know how to put it so I am going to use an example:

California Protected Areas Data Portal

Look at the "Agency Search" tool.

For example when I change the "Agency Type" to "Private", the "Agency" input looks different than if I change the "Agency Type" to for example "State"

Currently the standard Query Widget cannot provide this functionality.

I would appreciate it a lot if someone can point me in the right direction.

As far as I can see the eSearch widget also cannot provide this functionality.

Lourens,

The eSearch can replicate this functionality (from what I see). When you choose and agency the dropdown control under it has certain options based on the agency type. Well in the eSearch this would be the same as choosing a "Search Alias" (Agency) and that controls the "Specify parameters for this search" (the Agency list dropdown).

Live Preview of eSearch

If this does not suite your needs then you are left with the option of custom development.
