Hey @mapmcburney , So it looks like you are creating an imagery layer through the Create Hosted Imagery Layer wizard. It also appears to be over 79 Gigs of imagery that is being used to create the imagery layer. Is that correct? I am curious about the size of the prior imagery layers you have created. Also can you indicate if you are creating a dynamic imagery layer (image collection) or a tiled imagery layer and what type of input imagery you are using? (tif, jpg, img, etc)

Can you confirm if you can create an image collection dynamic imagery layer through the web app? If you can, then it is something else going on. Please let me know.

So you can create dynamic imagery layers, but not image collection varieties? If you can create the dynamic layers, then you should be able to create them. What is the specific error you are getting?

Hey @GilMastrapa , You will need the image collection layer configuration in order to update it. So you will need to use that configuration. Sorry I wasn't precise before.

Hey @GilMastrapa , Do you know if you are using dynamic or tiled imagery layers? The update will only work on dynamic image collections. So if you are not using the image collections, the update is not supported. As a question about your workflow, how large are the files that you are changing out every few hours?

The updating of an existing imagery layer in ArcGIS Online is something that is only available currently as a dynamic image collection, but depending on the workflow, size, and the update schedule perhaps smaller .crf based imagery layers that can be deleted and replaced may work in the meantime. It all depends on the desired workflow and usage. The multidim process I described will unlock the data in map viewer to be visualized similarly to what you can with other netCDF based or other multidimensional data. If you are not as interested in using those tools like you see here. Then the image collection with the image filtering may be desired. Feel free to reach out to discuss some more and work through your workflow.

Hi @NigelBerjak , Is that layer public? Or simply on ArcGIS Online within your organization? If you share its URL I can be specific, but here is some general stuff. Depending on they type of layer, enabling the pop-ups on that layer should reveal their pixel values if they are a imagery layer from ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online or an image service. If the layer is a tile cache or map image, then the pixel values will not be visible. Here is a map image layer (map service) so this one will not have access to the pixel values. A quick reminder is looking for the Pop-ups button amongst the properties for the layer. As you can see here the pop-ups are not available. The layer I used was from ArcGIS Image which makes all the cell/pixel values available. You can see the icon for the layer is a little different. So if you do not own the layer, but want to see the pixel values, you have to enable the pop-ups here. If they are available based on the layer you have selected. So not all layers have same qualities or abilities, but take a look at ArcGIS Image layers if you want to see those values. In this blog, you can read more about some of the advantages.

Hi @NigelBerjak , I hope that you were able to access the pixel values through ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online. Access to the pixel values are a standard for both types of imagery layers in ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online.

Hi @RiverCOG , The stretch for the imagery layers can be altered at any time within map viewer. You have several options to control which stretch is used. When you have the desired look for the imagery, layer you can save it in a map. For dynamic imagery layers, you can create processing templates to create specific visualizations of the data . I hope this helps, if not let me know.

Tiled imagery layers are one of two types of imagery layers that can be created by ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online. However, there is some confusion about how they can be used and how different they are from tile cache layers. This article continues the conversation to explain some of the fundamental differences between the two and how tiled imagery layers can help you access your imagery investment effectively. For more information about the tiled imagery layers, check out this blog. How can tiled imagery layers from ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online make your imagery more useful?

Hi Alessio, I am curious about your need of the image collection. The multidim layer in ArcGIS Online created by ArcGIS Image should work fine and allow you to access the information. If you want to see one in action, then I humbly recommend this ArcGIS Learn lesson on coral bleaching, the layer itself is located here if you want to add it to a webmap and see a tiled imagery layer with multi dim info. A dynamic image collection is not necessary to access the underlying data. When you have multi dimensional data in ArcGIS Online through ArcGIS Image, then you should be able to access the slices as you would in ArcGIS Pro. In terms of the overwriting, I suppose this will be a 'live' layer with additional updates? Is that the case? The multidimensional info can be accessed in map viewer. You can select any slice in the multidimensional data. Just let me know if you have any questions about the process. .
