Hi Russell, I manage the ArcGIS Maritime server extension that you are using and would be happy to help answer any additional questions you might have. It appears that you have been able to add our endpoints now. Since we are a Server Object Extension (SOE), our MapServer and WMSServer endpoints are further down from the parent map service. You should be able to add the WMSServer from Maritime Chart Service (MCS) to any OCG WMS compliant system. You can also reach me direct using our maritime@esri.com alias and I'm happy to assist via a conference call as well if you have additional questions about our capabilities.

The NOAA ENC Online uses the ArcGIS Maritime server extension to publish those services. Those services are not able to be taken offline. For users who want the same richness in functionality are encouraged to implement S-57 support in Runtime. This will allow you to load the same S-57 (ENC) datasets natively into your application and work offline. Leland Snyder (leland.snyder@noaa.gov) from NOAA is the owner of NOAA ENC Online and would be interested in hearing your use case for taking this service offline https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5cbd464c75a3444592f1dbd28d04af98 NOAA is looking into creating a tiled service from ENC Online that would be available for offline use.

Hi Mingi, There are a few options depending on your specific needs. 1. As long as those S-57 datasets aren't encrypted with S-63 you can load them into ArcGIS using ArcGIS Maritime This solution is primarily for production but can be used for many other purposes as well. 2. In ArcMap you have the Esri S-57 Viewer add-on. This allows you to view S-57 datasets in ArcMap. Publishing services is not supported. S-63 encrypted datasets are not supported. 3. If you have S-63 encrypted data or require web services, then you will need to use ArcGIS Maritime Server Extension There is also an additional webinar about the extension. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Tom

Hi Giorgio, I hope you are doing well. In the past, C-MAP only provided their propriety C-98 formatted ENC datasets that required a plugin for ArcMap. Now we have ArcGIS Maritime Server Extension (Maritime Chart Service MCS) customers using C-MAP data. MCS only supports standard S-57/S-63 datasets, so C-MAP must be providing that option now. If your customer requires the use of S-63 encrypted datasets, they will still be required to use MCS to publish map services and bring those into ArcGIS Pro.

Hi Jill, This, more than likely is being caused by the differences in scales of data in that area. As you zoom in/out the best available datasets will display based on your display scale and the datasets compilation scale. You can read more about this calculation here under the “DisplayParameters” section. I don’t recommend you change your DatasetDisplayRange but that can be something to experiment with. There is also a feature level attribute called SCAMIN that will suppress the drawing of features until they are within the right display scale to view. By default the service is set to honor that setting. It is part of the S-57 standard to optimize draw performance. If turned off, your draw times could be impacted and your display cluttered. The Maritime Chart Service (MCS) capabilities have over 30 display properties that help users customize their view of the data, similar to an ECDIS experience. If you don’t have our maritime widgets deployed you can download them here to create a web application. You can also use NOAA’s public service as well https://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/enconline/enconline.html. Please note, that NOAA’s service is running an earlier version of MCS and the widgets but the examples I’ve attached still apply to your version. In Example1.png, you will see the default view of the data as published by NOAA. Their default settings might differ from yours. In Example2.png, I have modified some of the display parameters using our display properties widget. You can read more about the numerous display properties and how to configure them on your service here. As you can see by NOAA’s example you have 3 different scales of data in the same area. There is a General, Coastal and Approach data. The Coastal data is being drawn but most features as you will see in Example3.png are being suppressed by the SCAMIN attribute. You can either zoom in to view the data at scale or turn off the SCAMIN attribute. In Example3.png, I turned off the SCAMIN property so data not at scale is now being drawn. This also identifies another set of settings that you might want to change. Note how the soundings from the Coastal data are smaller than the soundings from the General data. That is because we do not set the display of text and symbols to a 1:1 ratio. This default is changing at 10.9 but for your version you can alter those values (if desired) in the S52DisplayProperties.xml. This is part of the DisplayParameters section that I mentioned above. You need to set the minZoom and maxZoom for the following to 1. AreaSymbolSize LineSymbolSize PointSymbolSize TextSize By changing those values and restarting your map service, features and text will display at the same scale regardless of the differences in complication scale for those datasets. This is more of a traditional ECDIS view vs. a GIS view. If you feel that data is truly missing from the service, then you can check the log files under your MCS deployment to see if that dataset did not load. That could be due to the data supplier not providing you the proper permit.txt file to access the data but it appears it just has to do with differences in compilation scales between countries. This is very common. If you would like to know more about our configuration settings, just let me know and we can setup a meeting to discuss in more depth. Thanks, Tom

Hi Marcel, Are you referring to the free S-57 Viewer add-on in ArcMap? If so, then yes, that experience is currently under development in ArcGIS Pro. If you were using ArcGIS Maritime to view your S-57 ENC data, then that is also available in ArcGIS Pro 2.6. With ArcGIS Pro 2.6 we have begun to migrate our ArcMap S-57 workflows into ArcGIS Pro. Thanks, Tom

Hi Simon, You can get NOAA ENC datasets for free at NOAA ENC® . This site also provides access to an ENC Viewer, which is using ArcGIS Maritime's server extension Nautical Charts Online | Display S-57 & S-63 Encrypted Datasets on the Web. To get global coverage you would need to contact a value added reseller (VAR). You can access a list of them at Current IC-ENC VARs. I would recommend AVCS or Chartworld, depending on your needs. Chartworld also distributes Navionics data, though unofficial ENC data, it still provides great coverage. What are you looking to do with the data once in ArcGIS? Knowing this would allow me to provide additional details on how ArcGIS and the various extensions can work with either S-57 ENC or S-63 encrypted ENC datasets. Thanks, Tom

Hi Meredith, We do have it in our ArcGIS Pro roadmap but have not set a target release yet. Feel free to check back with me in a few months for an update. With regards to using S-57 data in ArcGIS Pro are you looking to load individual ENC datasets that are not officially released by NOAA yet? If you are only looking to view the released ENC datasets you can load your NOAA ENC Online services (REST or WMS) into ArcGIS Pro work with the data that way. Thanks, Tom

This video will help existing as well as new users learn how to quickly and easily register and update your Maritime Chart Service's Server Object Extension (SOE) on an ArcGIS Server Site. The following items will be covered: Discuss when you will want to update your registered server object extension (SOE) Update an existing ArcGIS Server Site with Maritime chart Service enabled The main benefit of using ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory is that it allows you to quickly and easily register and update your SOE. This process will supersede the Maritime Configuration Utility steps that currently exist at 10.3.1 and 10.4. By using ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory you will be able to preserve your Maritime Chart Service properties during the update.
