Robert do you know if this will be available at the basic license level in 1.4?

I've looked through all the help topics that I can locate on this issue but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Hopefully i'm just simply overlooking something . However if Miles and Kilometers are the only options, does any one know whether or not this will change in version 1.4? Thanks, Michael

Hello, I am relatively new to the enterprise geodatabase world. I would like to create a centralized database where other employees can add and update their spatial data. Enterprise Geodatabases seem to be the way to go, but the problem is almost everyone else in my agency has (or will have) ArcGIS Basic licenses. is it at all possible to accomplish this? I was hoping that I might be able to create users and give them INSERT, UPDATE privileges. However, I am not sure if this is possible for ArcGIS basic license users. Thanks, Michael

Thanks for your help Jake. I apologize for the late response but I've been out due to wildfires the past couple of weeks. The model changes you suggested are working well. Now all I have to do is export it to script and modify the code to work with task scheduler on our GIS Server.

I apologize for the late response to this. I've been on a fire assignment for the past couple of weeks and had to put everything on hold. Thank You Johnathan and Xander for your help. You've helped answer my question. The documentation makes sense to me and I can't wait to run my script. For some reason my database connection has slowed dramatically, so its been difficult to run any final tests. Will have to debug it and find out what's going on. will let you know when I get this script running successfully. My agency is also talking about the possibility of upgrading everything to 10.5 so we can start publishing geoprocessing services again.

I have a model that I want to run hourly on ArcGIS Server but I don't have a full understanding of how the model is going to work without the associated tools installed on the server as well. Do I have to install ArcGIS on the server to get this to work? All of the help I can find talks about doing this on a normal windows computer (with ArcGIS) but not a GIS Server. Also, I am using ArcGIS 10.4.1. so publishing geoprocessing tasks/tools is an issue. Thanks, Michael

Jake, I didn't realize automating a layer was this easy. I would however like to be able to make edits within ArcGIS Online. Any advice for publishing and automating a feature service? Thank you for your help! Michael

Hey Jake, Thanks for the reply, I'm sure there is a better way to do this, but here is the model so far. I am making a database connection to our SQL server and creating an xy event layer, then storing it as a feature class on Arcserver. I'm working right now to register the sql server as well (although it's taking a while). What's the next step to getting this to ArcGIS Online? It needs to be stored as a feature service on the server correct?

Is it possible to just use Model Builder to publish a feature service to an ArcServer? I have a geodatabase feature class that is linked to an sql table using model builder. This layer will auto update every time the model runs on my machine. However, I want to have the model publish the layer as a feature service on my agency's Arcserver so that it can be added to a web map on ArcGIS Online. That way the web map will update as well. I cannot figure out the best way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using ArcGIS 10.4 with a 10.2.2 Server. Also, ArcGIS is not installed on the server, just my computer. Thanks, Michael

Hey Rachael. No, I have not. The problem is on a colleagues computer who works in a different location. He has been busy an unable to make the call to ESRI. As soon as he does, I will let you know what they say. In the meantime I think he found a work around using the add field tool under "Data Management Tools."

Dan, We tried signing out and logging in with a different user account. Still having the same problem. That's disappointing. I really thought your suggestion would fix it.
