Greetings AGOL fans, NOTE: I'm playing the role of a user that has no access to other Esri software. I'm adding a shapefile to My Content, using "Add Item". This will result in a Feature service. After the service is created, when I check its properties, the Max Record Count is set to 2000. Is it possible to increase this parameter? Many thanks in advance.

Greetings all, I have a layer in a map document which represent wind speed and direction. The direction is indicated by the direction of an arrow symbol which is uses attribute values to set the angle of rotation. When I publish the dataset as a feature service, the rotation is not being honoured; all arrows point in the same direction. Does any one know if it is possible to do this OOTB in AGOL, or would I have to resort to using one of the APIs? Also, are there any plans to implement this in future releases of AGOL? Brilliant Mike, Many thanks for the explanation. My lack of knowledge on how KML is interpreted was what did me in. Now, thanks to you, I feel a little more savvy, and finally, what I have been experiencing makes sense.

Greetings AGOL fans. I was doing some testing with a WMS service which I subsequently added to a Web Map. Next, through the Web Map, I created a simple application using the Legend template. When I check my content and click on my new application, the description page opens and reveals an element that is new to me: App Registration. Here is an illustration: [ATTACH=CONFIG]26321[/ATTACH] I've gone mad searching for a description (in the help pages, google, etc.) of what registering an application means, but to now avail. Would anyone be able to provide an explanation (not a guess, please :rolleyes:), or a link to where I can learn about this er... feature? Many thanks in advance, Miguel

No, the URL to the KML must be publicly accessible. Also, while the feature service will display (because the web browser can resolve the URL as it is also running internally), some functions won't be available because it's internal. Thanks, Mike Greetings Mike, Sorry if I'm being thick here, but I'm failing to see the difference between the two URLs. Both are internal, so how come can AGOL resolve the service one, but not the KML one? Many thanks, Miguel

Tim, thanks for the response. I have already looked at that page, but it has not offered much help. Today I did a little test. I made my KML documents available through an external (to my firewall) website. So through IIS, I created a virtual directory, added KML as a MIME type for the directory and then copied my documents to it. Then I tested the URL. All works well. Then on my web map, I selected "Add > Add layer from the web". From the pull down menu, I selected "KML File", and in the URL: text box, I entered the URL to one of my KML documents. Clicked "Add Layer", and presto! My KML file was added as a new layer. So the workflow works! I don't require to add the KML files to My Content in order to add them to a web map. However, this is not just quite what I wanted. What I really want is to do the same, but instead of having the KML file in an externally facing website, I want this to work with an internal facing website. So I replicated what I did with the external website with on an internal one, on my own server. But this time it didn't work. I got the following error message: [ATTACH=CONFIG]26297[/ATTACH] So the big question is, can I use a reference for a KML document which is internal to my organisation? I imagine I would, since a FS that I'm also displaying in the map comes from my own ArcGIS for Server, which internal to my organisation. I hope you can appreciate my predicament. Help anyone? Greetings all, AGOL fans. I'm completely new to using KML, so please bare with me if what I'm asking is "Silly". I have a couple of KML files (.kml) that I would like to load to a web map. However, there is a catch: I don't want to add the KML file to My Content using Add Item, or any other method. Is this is my own file, could I add it to a location in my own web server, and then add it to the web map using "Add > Add Layer from Web"? Besides the Web Server method above, is there any other way of adding a KML file to a web map? Many thanks in advance.

Greetings all, The documentation for Feature Services clearly stipulates which data types are not supported. It includes the following: Annotations Dimensions Terrains Raster datasets Layers and tables based on SDE views However, there is no mention of whether a feature service supports simple labelling. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case? Ultimately, if labelling is supported, my aim is to implement labelling in a feature service served with SDS over SQLServer 2012.

Greetings Melita, That works. However, you have to change the projection on the Frame before you add the WFS layers. Otherwise, the layers are loaded with an "unknown" projection. And no, there is no interface similar to the one available in WMS to change the projection. I'm not completely sure why this is, but probably due to the "nature of the beast".

Greetings all, I have been playing with consuming WFS services, both ArcGIS Server generated and others, in ArcMAP. But then I wanted to switch coordinate systems from the default WGS84 (EPSG 4326) to British National Grid (EPSG 27700), and have hit the wall. You can do the proper for WMS very easily, by right clicking on the frame object and then selecting the WMS service layer in the TOC, and then selecting "Change Coordinate System..." [ATTACH=CONFIG]18000[/ATTACH] However, I don't seem to find the same or a similar UI to do the proper for my WFS services. Am I missing something? I have checked the documentation to no end, and also the Support website, but I can't find anything that explains how one would do this. Has anyone seen the interface for this? Does it exist, or have I dreamed about it? If this capability doesn't exist, my next stop would be the ideas website. Many thanks in advance to all.
