For any anyone who stumbles onto this.... Figured it out. I clipped the Parent Replica in the "Create Replica" replica wizard with Advanced Setting->Replica Geometry Features (used City Limits). Works fine from an SDE->FGDB. Going to test SDE->SDE The finally Geodata Service->SDE

I am not even sure if this is possible. Situation: County publishes entire SDE gdb as geodata service. City creates a two-way replica of the geodata service as an SDE on their local network... but instead of it being the complete County data set.... it is only the data within city limits? The end goal is for County to make edits to their SDE and post to their geodata service which would reflect in the city's SDE. And for the City to make edits in their SDE, post to Geodata Service which would be reflected in County data, via a nightly sync script. Trying to get both municipalities on the same page, just not sure how, or if even possible, to replicate an entire geodata service based on a spatial boundary (city limits)? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ahhhh.... it just takes a minute or two. The seat dropped back down and I reappeared. So it won't interrupt user activity if it is being used (it had a minor glitchy thought process for a second). It will reset the seat to available, and if it is still being used it will re-adjust and take the seat off from being available. Edit: Spelling

I haven't shut that one down yet because I wanted to see first hand what it is like if a Force-Checkin happens while someone is still actually on the computer. So I have Catalog open, I see myself in the license admin. Select Force-Checkin, I disappear and a license seat is now available. However.... I can still use ArcCatalog to its full capabilities. It shows my seat as available, but I'm clearly still using it.

I believe a user left ArcGIS for Desktop open or left signed in on a computer in one of our Emergency Centers. It has been logged on for 5 days. I know no one is in that room as it was only being used for a training exercise. Do I just simply go into License Server Admin, click View License Usage, Checked Out, select the license type, select the user, and then click "Force Checkin"? Update: This just re-opens the seat. If the application is open on the client side, it will re-ping the license server and re-take the seat. I just ended up remoting into the machine, closing the application, and logged out the user that left himself logged in.

Yes I completely agree. Just have to wait our the "Borrowed Time". If I am not mistaken, this is the only way to get a concurrent license off a network correct? Single Use will work fine, but if it is a concurrent license, it needs to be borrowed and returned.

Okay gotcha. Yeah the only downside is if the computer breaks or something similar, you have to wait for the time to run out on the borrow for the license to be added back to the pool. Checking out is essentially just using a concurrent license from the license server while remaining on the network. I thought you were saying that checking out a concurrent license meant you could take it offline, I was about to scour the internet to find out how to do that!

Yes, this is on par with my thinking. The Local Government Model GDB schema uses feature datasets as "folders". There isn't a single feature class in the GDB that is not a part of a dataset. I understand ESRI is doing this for an "all-encompassing" organizational pattern that can easily be plugged into any system. ESRI can't design a schema to fit every municipalities unique infrastructure for organizing feature classes, so they had to use feature datasets as "folders" and that would work more universally. I understand the process, I don't like it, but I understand.

I thought check-out was besically just showing when a user is currently accessing a concurrent license from the license server. I was not aware that a user could then take that license off network and continue. I thought it had to be "borrowed" for a set amount of time to be taken off network.

By Check out - do you mean "Borrow"? Where a user can borrow a license/extension for up to 30 days even off the network after borrowing? I would prefer to get our licensing situation to this as it gives the admin much more granular control. Though, with Borrowing if a computer gets broken, you are at the mercy of time since you can't force-check-in a borrowed license. You just have to wait until borrowed time runs out.

I looked at our My Esri account, unfortunately the previous person in my position Authorized all licneses under the generic admin name/account. So everything was authorized and being used by "the same person". No documentation was given in the "admin notes" to indicate who the user is or on what machine the licenses is being used on. I was able to track down the missing 8 license codes, and they were on machines that have re-imaged with Windows 10 before the codes could be de-authorized. I got ESRI to reset the 8 codes.

Update: I was able to track down, or at least found where the rabbit hole ended on the 8 "missing" licenses. By crashed I meant that they are no longer on a device, and that device had been re-imaged from Windows 7 to 10 before de-authorizing the license. I got on the phone with ESRI and they reset the 8 authorization codes.

Unfortunately no one has kept a record of what machines are using SU Licenses. And since the original person in my position left, multiple machines that were being used by interns which had SU licenses on them, were wiped clean and re-purposed. So no licenses were de-authorized. When I check our My Esri page to see who the licenses are activated/belong to, every single on of them was authorized by the previous person in my position, with no notes as to who is using the code and on what machine. Do you know if ESRI is willing to "destroy" all current codes and re-authorize new ones? It would be great to wipe everyone clean and then re-apply codes accordingly as they call. It would help get a-hold of how many of licenses are actually being used and how many are still "available"

Just getting started at my new job and I am trying to track down all the single use licenses currently being used. There are 18 single use licenses floating around out there. When I check the License Server Administrator, Single Use Availability is completely blank. I want to know if there is a way to find out what license codes are being used. What license codes are still available. And if any licenses were assigned to a computer, that person has left, and the computer was wiped clean. Technically that license is still "in use", right? I think this is the case on 2 computers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
