For anyone else having trouble with this, it seems it was down to hardware specs. We were trying this on a machine with 8gb RAM, and the minimum specs are 16gb. Upgraded it and it worked straight off the bat.

Well, I've done a fair few retries of Enterprise Builder. Eventually even got a "username cannot be empty" error (whilst also displaying my username underneath). Checked all the relevant java/javaw and postgres tasks were running, services, tried Oiligriv's solution (as recommended by ESRI), and am now back at the timeout error. Even trying the configuredatastore utility gave me the same error. ESRI have told me not to touch it until they get a response back from their international guys. Getting very frustrated, I've spent weeks trying to get this thing configured and it's holding work up on other projects. EDIT - just in case it's taken this way, this is definitely not aimed at you, just updating you as to what I've tried and where I stand. The logs also say more or less the same thing without going into any detail, that the request is timing out

Well, I turned the firewall off and tried again, this time getting the ever-helpful: Caused by: Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Null A bit of Googling and I'm uninstalling and trying again, this time with the firewall off. Hopefully it'll work this time.

No, that was me uninstalling and reinstalling on my own (to be fair, I was installing the components individually before). I'm now wondering if there's a port that needs opening somewhere (I check the Data Store service, and it is running - just seems that the config isn't picking it up). Or maybe a firewall issue.

I will have a better look at the configuredatastore utility tomorrow (nearly the end of the day here). I decided to uninstall everything and reinstall using Enterprise Builder, but hit the exact same error when we got to the Data Store. I've asked ESRI to re-escalate the issue. Additionally, most of the areas where the software indicates logs would exist either don't exist or are empty.

I had tried that, and it didn't work - still had the same problem. I'm actually installing now (after uninstalling) using Enterprise Builder, which worked well - until it got to the Data Store, and is having the exact same issue.

I have a machine in Azure which I'm trying to install all the components for ArcGIS Server on. It's taken a while, but I've finally got ArcGIS Server, a webadaptor, a portal, and now I'm trying to install Data Store. This is all on the one machine, using manual installs - not images or cloud builder etc. Now, when installing Data Store, it seems like its doing something, and then we get the attached error as below: "Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Failed to start relational data store. Caused by: Connection timed out while waiting for relational data store machine to start." As I say, this is on the same machine. Furthermore, I can go to the services and see it running, and the content directory is there. However, it cannot configure it with anything. I've asked ESRI and have tried a few things. They've thrown it open to all their support internationally but trying to speak to them is a bit of a pain due to the time difference. I cannot do an Azure install as that seems to want a few different machines for different things (and we're only going to use the one machine). As an aside, would an Enterprise cloud install work (or is it simply called cloud builder, or something like that)? That installs everything on just one machine. The support guy I was talking to wasn't entirely sure whether it'd work in Azure, and we've had to open some ports which were closed on the machine to get it working so far. EDIT - after being given the go-ahead, I uninstalled everything and tried reinstalling using Enterprise Builder - which worked until we got to configuring the Data Store, where we ran into the exact same problem.

We've got ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Server is installed. Now, what we're after doing is something that can accomplish the following: 1 - user enters a parameter value (eg "123") in a textbox on a html page. Presses submit. 2 - a pdf map (using a custom layout) is generated. The pdf shows only the features from a feature class that contain the parameter's value (eg "BlockID=123") and zoomed to those features Edit - this should be able to be done without the user interacting with any map at all. So they can just press a button on any old html webpage and the pdf is generated. I've managed this locally on my machine, simply using ArcGIS Pro and some Python notebooks, but am struggling figuring out how to get it working online and the documents are a bit of a maze to navigate. If nothing comes of this, I'll contact esri directly. Thanks!

I'm currently working on getting a GIS up and running. Our data is hosted in Azure, and accessed via ArcServer. On the desktop, it's all working fine. However, when going to Field Maps (or Collector), I try to make an edit, and my edits go straight into the DEFAULT version and into the database (even though I've protected the DEFAULT version and set my Feature Service to create a new version for each user). I've also tried this using a login that is not me (so someone who does not own the database). Furthermore, when trying to create an offline version, I get the following (paraphrased) error (basically, code 400 unknown error): Error downloading map: Error Domain=com.esri.arcgis.runtime.services.error Code=400 "Unknown error occurred" UserInfo={NSLocalizedFeatureReason=Failed to create replica., NSURL=<link to Feature Service replica job>, responseJSON={ error = { code = 400; description = "Failed to create replica."; }; lastUpdatedTime = <timestamp>; replicaName=""; resultUrl=""; status = Failed; submissionTime = <timestamp>; }, NSLocalizedDescription=Unknown error occurred} As an aside, as mentioned I've tried in Collector with the same issue. I haven't tried in the REST endpoint, as I don't know how.

I'm currently trying to create an app which has offline functionality, similar to Collector. That is, the user can go to their Gallery on the device (eg an iPad) and, if the map is able to be used offline, the user can select an area and create the downloaded package directly on their device, and sync it up as they go. Is this possible? At the moment everything I can see points to having to create and package it up using ArcGIS Pro. We support a lot of users who operate out of areas where they have no connection in the field, in different timezones and sometimes with emergency situations who can't wait for me to be online and packaging maps up and then them having to download them again, then doing it again if it's wrong. Much better if they can do it themselves just using the app.

Didn't think so (though I was sure I saw somewhere that it was). Will have to look at AppStudio then, but this helps clear up what technology we need to use as it's a critical feature for our users.

We have a need for a user, in a survey, to enter text into a field. This is fair enough, but in order to make it faster, the user can speak and have the text transcribed into the field. This is possible, at the moment, through using the device's own mic and dictation, which works pretty well. However, ideally we also want to store this speech in case of it being misheard and not transcribed properly, and also so we can listen for stresses. Now, Survey123 allows us to record audio, fine and dandy. But can we also transcribe and save into text at the same time? There was this (https://twitter.com/arcgissurvey123/status/992947053729902592 ) which looks similar, but on closer inspection they're just pasting text in. I was thinking it may be possible to script something together but I doubt it's possible to script something which also activates the device's dictation on a text field.

I know that this is probably one that gets asked often, but I'm hoping something may have changed recently. I'm getting a feel for Web AppBuilder - it seems ideal for nearly everything we need it to do, except for one thing - taking maps offline. Currently we use Collector around our organisation, which is quite good for this. It's also quite necessary, as a lot of our work is done where there is no signal whatsoever, and I was hoping that a widget was available (or some other methodology) to allow us to select areas, just as in Collector, take them offline so they can be used out of signal range, and then sync them up again later.

I've got a hosted feature layer on ArcGIS Online, and some of our field operatives have been using it to collect data in the field. They're very remote (even when they're in the office they have difficulty getting a good connection) so, given that I'd need to get at least three flights to get out to them, helping with errors is difficult and we invariably send emails back and forth over a few days. In any case, Collector has been good as it allows them to take areas offline and make changes, then sync when they get back into the office. However, they've been coming across one error a few times: Unable to synchronize replica. Replica with GUID : BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-CRAZY-WORDS-MOUSTACHE does not exist on the server. (obviously the GUID is a proper GUID) Any ideas? This is stuff which we'd like to sync back up, and after contacting ESRI a few times they're saying they've never seen this problem with an ArcGIS Online / Collector setup. If there's a way to create a replica with that ID and get it to sync up with that, and in turn our main layer, that'd be great, but if not if there's any other way at all to get at the data.
