There is one geoprocessing tool in the Arc Hydro Toolbox in the Point Characterization toolset called Generate Flow Path. It takes as input the source points to trace, the flow direction grid as well as the Catchment and Drainage Line feature classes to speed up performance. It generates the flow paths. You may want to check it out. Christine Dartiguenave Esri Water Resources Team

We have been modifying some of the tools in the 10 version and Flow Direction with Sinks is one of them. You can still access the old version of the tool in the Arc Hydro Tools toolbox but it has been removed from the menu. The tutorial has not been updated for 10 yet. You can check the attached document that discusses the new workflows for terrain preprocessing with the new tools. Some of the new tools may be accessible from the toolbox only. Assuming that you are using the latest versions (i.e. not an issue with OID/OBJECTID), and that you input stream is not a shapefile, there is a potential bug when the input dem is stored in a file geodatabase. Current workaround is to store the input dem on the disk. When the dem is in a gdb, some of the intermediate data is being cleaned up too soon. We will look into it. Which versions are you trying to install? We had that error in the past when the setup was trying to test whether a location read from the registry (for Python I believe) was correct. The latest setups should have taken care of this issue. Christine Dartiguenave Esri Water Resources Team

1. First I would recommend upgrading to Arc Hydro 2.1. We did some cleanup for Python in there and you will also get some python scripts in the AH toolbox (see download instructions below). 2. We have precompiled the tools from the toolbox in a module called ArcHydroTools so that you do not have to redo the import each time which takes a long time... Then in your script you will need to add: import ArcHydroTools and call the tools with: ArcHydroTools.AssignHydroID(tmpPolyFC, "OVERWRITE_YES") Christine Dartiguenave Esri Water Resources Team Connection instructions for water resources applications Location for latest development code for water resources applications developed by the ESRI??s Professional Services group: address: https://mft.esri.com user: ADSRiverHydraulics password: ADSRiver.2012 port: 22 Make sure you correctly login (case sensitive). There was a bug in that tool, which has now been fixed. One of the internal processes was expecting OBJECTID in the input line feature class and failed when not found. This is resolved in the latest version for 10 and 10.1 available on our ftp site: https://mft.esri.com Login: ADSRiverHydraulics Password: ADSRiver.2012 10 Navigate to ADSRiverHydraulics/incoming/ArcHydro/Setup10/2.1.0.xxx/ and download the msi file. 10.1 Navigate to ADSRiverHydraulics/incoming/ArcHydro/Setup10.1/10.1.0.xx/ and download the msi file.
