Robert, I have upgraded arcserver and portal to 10.3.1. I was just attempting to add a new query and it seems the mapservices are not loading properly. when I add the services the field do not populate in the box where I can select them. there is also a red ! mark next to the rest url. I have attached an image for you to see. any ideas? I have been having a variety of issue today. for example I can only open the WAB-developer in IE (11), Chrome and FFox toss errors. maybe it is related. I have attached that error as well ... yes i can add a service to the MAP tool in portal. it seems very slow however i attempted to do the query again a bit ago and it got the list of fields but i cant add an expression as the fields again don't show up. maybe it is timing out or something. ... View more

Robert could you explain in a bit more detail about the proxy and setting it up. I have not ever fully grasped how or what to do with this. and are you saying that after we export a app out of the webappbuilder-dev and have finished modifying it (ha-ha), that we can turn off the node.js? is there clear documentation on all this somewhere? thanks Glenn ... Larry, thanks for answering. can you describe the policy you have setup for vpn right now our policy limits vpn to remote desktop connection. so I can't use the vpn to connect to our internal esri portal site. I am guessing that would have to allow access via 443 (https). but I don't know much about this network/vpn stuff. ... View more

I am sure you are right. I am having trouble getting portal configured properly. example-- I can't switch the geometry service to my local arcserver setup on the same box as portal. I am guessing it has to do with certificates as I am using the one I made. I also see I have to switch to https only if I want to use windows authentication. I do have to use https to log onto portal but once I am on if I share the webmaps with everyone they seem to function fine with http.. including the built in webappbuilder. all this gets back to one of my earlier queries about a nice clear and understandable explaination of how to set things up including the iis options (windows and/or anonymous)..
