Ok, thanks for keeping us posted. I guess this means the issue is still there at AGS 10.3. That's a real bummer.

Is this the bug? It's the only one that looked relevant. Was created as a bug back in January with the 10.2.1 release. http://support.esri.com/en/bugs/nimbus/role/beta10_1/TklNMDk3OTYx

Ok, good to hear. We've been back on 10.2 for a month or so with zero issues. Do you have any info on the actual bug so we can track it?

...our on-site data within our enterprise GIS db and served via feature service gets updated? I can' see how this would work, but if it did that would rock. Or... in order for subscribers to get notified, does the data actually have to reside in AGOL? Thanks, -Royce

Hey Matt, You're first example is what I've been trying and the UI isn't matching what you are describing. On my Android device, there is no "left side contents panel". I just have a map with some controls overlayed on top of it, like the "plus/minus" buttons for zooming. It sounds to me like you are seeing the full "desktop" UI instead of the mobile UI, which is much scaled-down from the full desktop AGOL map UI. I very well could be wrong about this since we aren't directly looking at each other's screens. Here's the map I'm testing: http://larimer.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=fac44a005f6644e3bb3f62c4f13d2c26 Should be viewable by the public. If you look at the TOC on your desktop browser, there are 4 layers plus the basemap. When you open the map on a smaller mobile device (phone not tablet), a nice mobile UI comes up but as far as I can tell, no option is available to toggle those 4 layers. What say you?

Thanks Joe, If I'm not mistaken, that reference is for "Explorer of ArcGIS" which is a native app for mobile. I'm talking about turning map layers on/off in AGOL map in a mobile device browser.

Last I saw, Adobe was going to fix this in the Flash Player by allowing simple headers. The reality is that may not fix your specific issue. Since I've implemented the above code change, I haven't been following the saga but here's the conversation: Bug#3759971 - Security error #3769 is too excessive, breaks navigateToUrl()

When I first got into geoFlex dev, I jumped right in and started making really cool UX centered "apps". The learning curve was very reasonable. It included everything contained within the Flash Builder IDE: MXML, Actionscript, esri API, Flash Builder (Eclipse) idiosyncrasies. This allowed for a very standard, well understood development environment, be it esri GIS or not. You could go to a Flex Dev session and you were 100% guaranteed that everyone is on the same page. I feel that Flex geo-dev really allowed the developer to concentrate on crafting an end product that hits the nail on the geo-UX head and not get bogged down in the mechanics of the dev platform. With pure web dev, I'm finding things much more challenging for the following reasons, all of which have their own discrete learning curves: HTML, CSS, JS, Dojo, jQuery, AngularJS, editor or IDE of choice (and there are a lot), responsive design patterns, task automation, testing frameworks. There is little standard here and when you sit down with esri Dev's (or even non esri devs), there is no "common ground". This dev does things one way and that dev does it another. Truly, to be very productive at this, one just needs to totally geek out on "web dev" and get neck deep into it and just love it for what it is. I haven't found a sweet spot yet and this after working with html/css/js for a few months now. I remember during the 2008 UC, I was able to create unique Flex based web map apps from my hotel room, show them off to my manager and have very positive response. Within a year, things were really humming along. That isn't the case now with HTML/CSS/JS and I haven't put my finger on the reason. Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy. I'd like to think that's not the case.

This is a possible deal breaker for us so the more traction this gets, the better. Thanks for looking into it on your end.

Turns out, there is no issue. There's a bug in the mxd that get's published to the server but, that mxd is never referenced. The map service uses an MSD which is created independent of the mxd that gets copied to the server folder. So, the short story is: All good, nothing to see here... move along.
