I'm currently running a machine with ArcGIS 9.4 beta 2. Is it possible to install ArcLogistics 9.3 alongside or do i need to wait for both products to be released at 10.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

There are currently 2 versions of ArcLogistics available.  One is based on ArcGIS 9.3 Engine and this version cannot be installed along with 9.4 beta 2 or 10 Pre-Release, Final, etc.  These will never be compatible.

A few days ago, the new version of ArcLogistics was released which can be run alongside 9.4 beta 2, 10 Pre-Release, etc.  This version is all new and uses ESRI hosted mapping, routing, and geocoding services which removes the burden of data and large software installations off the user.  You can learn more here and obtain a free 30 day trial.  This is probably your best option if you need to install alongside 9.4 beta 2.

Hi Bert,

Does ESRI plan to have ArcLogistics 10 as standalone client like 9.3 for thus organization that are outside of US or EU or willing to work with own datasets and/or offline?

Thanks,
Max

Hi Max,

There are tentative plans to release a version of ArcLogistics 10 later this year.  Keep in mind that this will simply be an upgrade of the ArcLogistics 9.3 Desktop product to work with version 10 Engine files so you can run it with ArcGIS 10 applications like ArcMap, Catalog, Server, etc.

It retain the features, look, and feel of 9.3 with no added functionality from the new Online version of ArcLogistics.

Discussion about International use are in progress but I don't have any expected dates for that yet.

Has there been any progress with the tentative plans.  I have two customers in the UK who are very interested in ArcLogistics for field surveyor planning.  But if it cannot be used on version 10 then the interest will go.

I'm happy to report that much progress has been made and we're currently testing this.  I don't have release dates at the moment but send me an email at byagrich@esri.com and we'll be sure to notify you as soon as it's available.

This is a definitely a high priority item and we hope to have it out soon.  If your customers can hold on a bit longer, we should be able to meet their needs.
