I am in the process of enabling the Land information model on our Parcel Fabric. I have always used my own editing mxd set up how I was used to editing.  Are most people enabling the Info Model on their current project and continuing to use the same domains and Symbology and such or starting a new project and adding the Land Information Model enabled fabric to it and customizing from there?  I see it is a little different from the TaxParcelEditingMap.mxd. Also, it adds all new domains with a lr prefix.  Should those be edited, or just rename our existing domains with the lr prefix?  Is there a way to reorder the Fabric Sublayers in the Parcel Fabric group Layer?  I am probably just overlooking something simple but I can't seem to change the order.  I want to display the Tax Parcels above the Cadastral Framework.

Hello Jake,
After enabling the Local Government Information Model, new domains with an 'lr' prefix will be added and the appropriate fields pointed to those domains. Since one of the goals of having the same information model across the US:
- Do not change the domains, but if necessary change the domain description
- Do not change the fields, but if necessary change the field alias (e.g. parcel Name to 'APN' or 'PIN' etc.)
- You can delete domain values that do not apply to your county to minimize the drop down list
- You can delete old domains that are not prefixed with 'lr'

Map File:
The map has been optimized for parcel editing in the US. It is designed for parcel editing and not for map production that usually outputs a map in black and white. Since a map tells a story, like a language, wouldn't it be great if it told a similar story across counties?!

- create a new map document and start by dragging and dropping the parcel fabric (that is enabled) to the map
- Change symbology and any map definitions as necessary
- You cannot re-order the layers: if you think the ordering is wrong, please let us know what you think needs modifying
- Layer names can be changed (e.g. change the cadastral framework from PLSS names to metes & bounds names)
- The cadastral framework parcels have no fill color and are placed above the tax parcels. I can see  this becoming a problem if you do use a fill color.

In general:
We would like to create the best editing map for parcels and for customers to be able to directly start work with it. Any feedback is welcome in an effort to improve and perfect this map.

Thanks Amir!
Our county manages a Block Parcel Type.  We have talked about getting rid of it in favor of the Block designator field but as of now its in there.  With the new mxd I'm setting up with the Information Model enabled do you recommend just creating a lyr file and adding block Type like I did in the Past?  Any discussions about adding that parcel type to the model?

We also have a Quarter Quarter Parcel type assigned with a value of 12.  I updated the Definition query in the Cadastral Framework sublayer to include 12 but am not sure I like them all in the same group.  It definitely makes scale dependancies tough and working with individual parcel types is a little different.  Are there any issues with creating layer files for them and Separating them out and then not using the "Cadastral Framework" sublayer in the Parcel Fabric Group?

Also, I think we are going to have 2 feature linked annotation classes.  One for Tax Parcels and one for Platted Lots.  What is the best workflow for bringing them into the model.  I don't remember being able to choose 2 when I enabled the model.  Is it a bad idea to have 2 Annotation Feature Classes?

We manage Railroad ROW in Encumbrances.  The Model has road ROW in the Domain for encumbrance type but we have to add Railroad.  Any thought of adding this to the model or should I be representing those in a different way?
