I just saw the webinar about managing parcels.  One feature about the parcel fabric, as stated in the presentation, is the ability to automatically store history of the parcel data as it is been edited.  My questions is how that history information is actually store in the database?  Is archive functionality used or is it store as an additional layer in the parcel fabric?  Now, we use archiving to record historical changes for our parcel data, so we want to know the details to consider planning to upgrade our geodatabase and decide whether or not to use the parcel fabric data model.

Thanks

If you have a fabric you can look at, open the Attribute Table. In it, you will find a field called Historical. When you mark a parcel as Historical, the parcel remains in the database, it just has an attribute of Historical = 1. If you do a selection box over an area where you have a historical parcel, it will be selected. In the parcel explorer window, you will can choose if you want to view the historical parcel or not. You can also make it "un" historic if you need to. In the attribute table, the parcel will have a system start date and time and a system end data and time (this being when you made it historic).
Hope that helps.
