Intersection tool runs forever, it stucks at cracking features and never gives results.

I run the intersection tool in model builder. It stucks at the phase of cracking features and this process never ends. I don't get any error. I try to use the same tool with the same data out of model builder and I had the same problem. My data are stored in the default geodatabase. I exported them as shapefiles but nothing changed.

Are the default geodatabase and shapefiles stored locally or on a network share?  If not local, then try copying data to local drive and run tools.

Have you tried running the tool on a subset of the data?

Have you tried to analyze the data with ESRI tools in Pro as you have ESRI tests and OGC tests?

The default geodatabase and the shapefiles are stored locally.

The tool runs without any problem when I use a subset of the data, so probably the big amount of data is the source of the problem.

I tried also in Pro and I had the same problem.

a try, but output to a shapefile or sources as a shapefile will slow things down greatly, keep source and destinations in a gdb

Pairwise Intersect could help but unfortunately, I need the simple intersect.

Thanks for your advice, I will keep everything in a gdb
