It would be great if Scene Viewer could include a 3D volumetric calculation tool like the one in Site Scan. I am referring to the tool where you can delineate a 3D polygon on the model surface and this clips that portion of the 3D mesh and interpolates a surface beneath the model surface. Volume calculations are then provided for the difference between the top and bottom surfaces. If this is done around a stockpile for example, the model surface is the piled material and the interpolated surface is the ground beneath the pile. Also having the ability to choose how the base surface is interpolated is a great feature the Site Scan 3D Volume tool has.

Hello @Geobunga

This is in our backlog but not yet planned for a release.
Could you please share the use case(s) why you would like to have the Site Scann 3D Volume tool integrated into Scene Viewer? This helps us to prioritize our backlog.

Hi @GianlucaMiele1 ,

In many cases I need to export data from Site Scan and use more powerful tools to clean up data and refine my outputs. Once I do this I cannot bring the cleaned data back into Site Scan to provide access for clients and non-GIS colleagues in the easy to use browser-based interface. Scene viewer seems like a good option for me to share the data in a way that is similar to Site Scan, but a key flaw for me is the lack of a volume tool. I am looking into other platforms but since we already do so much in the Esri ecosystem it would be nice to have this ability without having to add yet another service subscription with another company. Do you have any updates on how soon this might become available?

Thanks for sharing this information on your workflows, @Geobunga

May I ask what impedes you from bringing the refined data back into Site Scan and why do you think this data can be brought back into Scene Viewer instead?

Hi @GianlucaMiele1, when importing data back into Site Scan I have found it has limited functionality and doesn't allow me to do all the same things I can with data that was generated within site scan. I haven't tested this in a few months, but last I checked I could only import overlay vector layers and the same tools aren't enabled.

A lot of updates have occurred in Site Scan over the last few months so this may have changed. When I have a chance I'll go in and see if there is any new functionality in this regard.
