Can I retrieve the file system path of an item selected in the catalog pane in ArcMap?

I want to add a functionality similar to the "Copy Path" function in Pro, can arcpy access the path info found in the item properties?

The The pythonaddins module—Help | ArcGIS Desktop has a GetSelectedCatalogWindowPath() function that retrieves the path of selected item in Catalog window.
